I imagine we will field a strong XI but it all depends on where Jurgen wants these guys to be playing. Against Canada in the 2nd half, Jurgen had something similar to this: -Castillo------Wondowloski--------------------------- ------------------------------Jones---------------- --Altidore---Dempsey--Bradley--------------- ----------Onyewu---Edu--Goodson--Parkhurst------ ----------------------Howard----------------------------- I wonder why that didn't work? I really hope Jurgen doesn't screw this up again. My preferred XI and formation: ----------------------Altidore---------------------- -----Dempsey----------------------Donovan----- -----------------Torres-----Bradley--------------- -------------------------Jones----------------------- --Johnson---Boca----Goodson---Cherundolo-- ------------------------Howard----------------------- It's really simply Jurgen. Jozy isn't a LM, Jones isn't a striker, and Bradley shouldn't be playing like a CB.
we've basically seen it for 3 straight games. Who is Boca's partner? Who is the forward? Edu on the bench. Done
1. Onyewu; since he has been played in all 3 matches, while the others have only played 1 each. 2. Altidore starts. 3. I expect Edu, with Torres and Gomez the other 2 players considered. 4. And of course Johnson returns if healthy.
I hate this, but I have a feeling you're right. When I saw him getting ready to get 25 minutes of action I was like, "shit".
This is your best post ever, and sadly accurate. I felt like EVERYONE had a free role tonight, it was strange.
-----Castillo-----Wondowloski---- -----------------------------------Jones-- ---------------------Altidore------------------ ------Dempsey------------------------Edu -------------Goodson-------------------------------- -----------Bocanegra----Bradley----Parkhurst------ -----------------------Howard-------------- That was more or less what it looked like in my eyes.
Mine, too. Such free-flowing grace and movement from that squad! Clearly, the team's made a ton of progress. I love Torres on the wing, too. Definitely not a white elephant.
When he first came on, he played left midfield. No doubt about it. Eventually he found his way up front.
After watching the 3 games, Geoff Cameron has to start. Especially in this one. Maybe not in Guatamala, but definitely here. We need the defender who cannot be ignored when he has the ball in central defense.
Cameron and Goodson were our best centerbacks over the past 3 games. Wouldn't hate seeing them together at some point. They're our two best on the ball, without question.
---Torres -- Torres -- Torres ---Jones --- Jones --- Jones Torres -- Jones -- Jones -- Torres ---------------Torres It'll work. Trust me, I'm German.
---------Altidore ---Dempsey------ Donovan ---- Bradley ----- Jones -----------------Edu Johnson - Bocanegra - Onyewu - Cherundolo --------------------Howard Johnson adds width, jones and Bradley free to go forward, edu cleans up. Could be convinced of starting Cameron over Onyewu.
This. For all the bashing Edu gets on here (some deserved, when he plays out of position), he is the cog in our midfield. Without him Bradley and Jones spend too much time back tracking and not enough time getting forward.
If you take off a center midfielder and add a forward, Dempsey and Donovan will have more defensive responsibility. So let's not do that.
