    1) So much for a legit starting CF
    2) God forbid we ever have a viable LB besides ARob on a roster
    3) Even being local doesn't get Guti a real cap

By the time the tournament starts he might be the only non-injured and pulled out.

Harriel has played a lot of CB this year, IIRC. So maybe there's something tactical there?

Yeah but then we have six centerbacks in Ream, Richards, McKenzie, Robinson, and Harriel.

It feels like Poch left out a lot of the Euro players who are looking for a move in the Summer.

If you believe there was some message sending to these callups then leaving off Sarge when you already had 3 strikers plus Haji makes sense. The US didn't really need the amount of strikers we originally took anyway

Though message board poster psychoanalyzing a coach is always a tough task

What exactly is Sargent getting punished for? I don’t recall him being poor in the last game. Strikers get the blame sometimes, but he wasn’t bad, just not good enough. Seems like he would have been an obvious backup.

I would think it's because Sargent hasn't ever translated his club form to the USMNT. But, it might also be that Poch just doesn't like his profile and how it fits in the team--also evidenced by his lack of scoring for the USMNT.

He missed a good chance in his last outing and I got the sense that Pochettino didn’t like the miss at all.

It's not like he totally bottled that shot, it got deflected and didn't find the net. Maybe it's one you hope your striker converts, but it was much better than Cardoso's shot against Chelsea (e.g.). Seems like an illogical basis to black ball him (which given the injury situation is pretty much what this looks like).

I mean small sample and also Berhalter was suspended and didn’t play.

It’s not as if there aren’t national teams who don’t rely on players from the Inter team that just lost the Champions League final 5-0.

Is anyone counting on the Inter side that got so embarrassed? It's one game and the Whitecaps also beat Monterey and Pumas to get there.

Both Berhalter and White have their question marks but I think this game was pretty meaningless.

The 2 USMNT (White, Berhalter) and 3 Canada (Ahmed, Nelson, Adekugbe) players are all limited players from an international perspective. I suspect we all know that.

In many ways playing against teams of the caliber of Turkey and Switzerland may give us a better sense if White or Berhalter could have any impact at the international level.

I believe they would be fine against Haiti and T&T, perhaps even Saudi Arabia.

They’re not counting on the Vancouver guys, they’re giving them a shot. Understandable if you saw Berhalter’s contributions in getting the team to the final. Even more understandable when the majority of the A team pretty much doesn’t play at the Gold Cup at this point.
