US v. Spain - October 10 and 13

It's not officially announced, but alerts have gone out for tickets.

 

They said they got a ticket notification alert, but the tickets were 5 days form going on sale. To me, that says some technical error on the notification. Also, it was only for one match, not two or three. Of course, I'll change the thread title if the information is different.

People on Reddit are saying they've seen prices as low as $105. Saying that, when I saw the team in the cold in Denver, I paid $170+. It was near the midfield line, opposite the benches, but nothing was less than $100 anywhere.

 

Side note, anybody finding any amusement at the match in Philadelphia being played at Subaru Park? Think there will be a slot of Subarus in the parking lot?

I think the prep is more for the players as we fans, the ones that will show up, are likely well versed in WoSo across the board.

Over the past 12+ months, with a lot of the same players, the team as played Argentina, Brasil, Canada, China, Colombia, Italy, Japan, Paraguay, Portugal, and will play Spain (did I miss somebody, after SBC 2025?). The team is prepared for El Salvador. But playing Spain is important. One of the difficulties we have scheduling high level European teams is the lack of availability of high level European teams (always a tournament/qualification). When the team played Italy last fall, that was a replacement for a European team in the Nations Cup semifinals.

Technically, the team only needs one win to qualify. But if we lose to El Salvador, we are talking an unheard of upset. And as @hotjam2 said, Hayes and the team want to win the qualification tournament. It would be a shock if that did not happen.

 

It sort of is. One of the oddities we have is that it is the US and everybody else. Canada comes next. Then Mexico, and then everybody else. Currently that everybody else is led by Jamaica or Haiti. But this go around, there are 4 teams that qualify from our region, so that means that in the qualifying tournament, it starts at the quarterfinals, so all 4 semifinalists qualify. But that is basically because, historically, the US and Canada have been far and away well beyond all the other teams in the region, so they have been given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to qualifying, and get automatic spots in the qualifying tournament. Here's what the tournament looks like:




Prior to that, there was the group stage round of 6 groups. The winners of the 6 groups were Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, and Panama. So, only the US and Canada can qualify with a single win. But that is for the World Cup. This tournament also doubles for the Olympic qualifying as well, and in that case, the winners of the semifinal qualify. Unless one is the US (Olympics 2028 are in LA), in which case it will be the winner of the 3rd place match.

Beyond that, this is also the CONCACAF region championship, so the winner not only qualifies for WC27, and Oly28, but gets region bragging rights.
