Simple rules. Complete the sentence for both a win and a loss. I would also like to see some posts from Mexican fans (so long as we can all play like adults) as I'd like to know what they think their key to winning/losing will be.

We will win because Mexico still hasn't figured out how to stop our counter attacks. With Donovan, Adu and Altidore attacking in the second half, they won't know what hit them.

We will lose because we will continue to run out of gas late in the first half. Bradley wants our mids to play high pressure but that means we will be gassed by the 30th minute and become disorganized.

We will win because Mexico still can't deal with our pressure and athleticism in midfield.

We will lose because Bradley will play a formation that does not give us a chance to score very many goals.

We will win becasue Mexico will finaly except the US is a good side, and we need to take our heads out of our asses and play the best we can.

We will loose because Our mentality will be the same as always, and underestimate the US.

We will win because we win the physical battle in the midfield, sufficiently disrupting their attack, and pushing the ball forward enough times to put a couple in.

We will lose because we let them get loose on the flanks and someone loses a mark at the wrong time in the box.

Good idea for a thread, I hope.

We will win because of our superior size, speed, and fitness. We respect Mexico as an opponent and make good adjustments to counter their skill. And we still suffer from an inferiority complex. Truth is, we can run out some pretty good soccer players.

We will lose because of Mexico's rising generation. They have some great young players who are better than the players before them, and it just may be that the talent scale starts tipping heavily in their favor.

Asking Mexicans poster on here to play like adults is as hard as asking Pee Wee Herman to stop playing with himself. Unless punished they won't quit.

We will win because Bob Bradley in his tactical geinus (or lack thereof) will realize that Dempsey is not a foward, Feilhaber not a starter, and a backline of 3 is deadly if Boca is the anchor. Bob will get the idea that you need a quick player on the wings and Eddie Lewis is now a benched player. That Altidore deserves a start, and Parkhurst is a solid option compared to Drew (No) Moore.

We will lose because of Mexico's individual skill and the incredible play of the strikers up front who get behind our backline that will be pushing up on counter attacks. That Vela and whoever else will be reaking havoc and the wing play devastating. That Brasillian Zinha comes in and proves the Mexican media wrong for his passion to play the game.

We will win because: Antonio De Nigris will prove to be the missing piece in Hugo Sanchez puzzle. De Nigris has the physical presence to match up against the U.S defenders and withstand their rough-house style of play.

We will lose because: Bob Bradley reads Big Soccer and upon seeing this post will take extra precaution to man mark De Nigris! Or the U.S is better prepared and has the mental edge to knock down a Mexico side that needs to go 100% if it ever hopes to defeat their bitter rivals.

We will win because Altidore and Adu come of age.

We will lose because we create no chances from the run of play.

We will win because our youthful midfield, centered on an in-form Michael Bradley, dictates the flow through the center of pitch and disrupts the Mexican midfield, pushing enough creative balls through where our attacking speed poses great danger to the Mexican defense. Mexico continues to play arrogantly to the crowd, refusing to acknowledge the danger we pose to them. The combo of Bocanegra and Onyewu solidifies, diffusing danger from their talented young attackers. We take advantage of our set-piece opportunities. We finish better than they do.

Mexico will win because they finally acknowledge that we are an opponent to be respected and play the ball intelligently into danger with urgency as a team. Their talented young guys show maturity and expose our backline weaknesses, particularly on the flanks for this match. Pardo and Torrado control the tempo, leaving our attack with few options, showing young Mike how to direct tempo and flow internationally. They finish better than we do.

Based on these comments from Hugo...

...We will win because Mexico has an enormous superiority complex. I'm not taking a cheap shot here, either. I truly believe that Mexico, its coach, and its players all suffer from the classic symptoms:
    • A deep state of denial
    • Exaggeratedly positive opinion of their worth and abilities
    • Unrealistically high expectations in their goals and achievements
    • Vanity and extreme pride
    • A tendency to discredit the accomplishments of others
A superiority complex is much like an inferiority complex, except that those - like Mexico - who suffer from it project their own feelings of inferiority by trying to dominate the people they feel inferior to.

That's why Mexico continues to talk shit about the US team, either directly or through backhanded compliments, in complete denial of the string of results that fly in the face of their attitudes. That's why if you make the mistake of visiting the Mexico forums and post something even remotely agitating, they'll trash can your post, neg rep you, and bring down yellow cards. And that's why their fans will come to the US forums and claim they don't care about this game (the contradiction is beautifully hilarious), but still talk shit and get worked up when they're proven to be morons.

The beauty of all this is, as long as Mexico is in this state of denial and maintains this complex, we have the advantage. Based on their coach's comments, we're in no danger of losing that edge anytime soon.

we will win becauseThe psychological factor every time we win is bricks piling on top of bricks, and we've got a house of brick built on top of Mexico's psyche. Theyll be pressured more and more to show they are the better team. IF the US frustrates them on offense, they push up more looking for that elusive goal, US counters swiftly and puts it away; twice.

Michael Bradley is instantly a lynchpin of this team, the more chaos he creates, the better. Maybe we see the creative michael bradley that has developed over in holland this time around too.

we will lose if Vela and Dos Santos provide too much skill down the flanks and expose our inexperienced outside backs and outside midfielders who are too offensive minded to get their mitts dirty. unknown quantities surprise us.

We will win because the game is in the US.

We will lose because Mexico gets lucky or Gooch gets a red card or gives up a penalty.

My point is that Mexico has no reason to have an inferiority complex in relation to the US. (They are welcome to if they wish of course. :D) In general, they have been the better team and this is reflected in the world rankings. The reason that the US has such a strong record against Mexico is simple: around 80% of the US-Mexico matches are played in the US. We consistently beat them in friendlies at home and we beat them in the Gold Cup at home. We have never beaten them in Mexico, and have only scored once there I believe. Of course we won the big one in Korea on neutral ground, and I'm sure that one smarts for them, but anything can happen in one game.

Now when we go into Mexico and beat them regularly, or we consistently advance farther in international competitions, THEN they will have something to feel inferior about! :)

We will win becauseplayers will keep ignoring Donovan comments and concentrate on the game and will finally understand that there's no need to come out with the 'everyone attacks" strategy that gives the US the spaces they need.

    or

Mexico actually manages to capitalize the scoring chances they get.

    or

Players will understand this is just a soccer game and won't start thinking nonsense like "we have to win this for the people crossing the border" or any BS like that.

We will lose becausethe team will be doing a good game until someone gets a yellow card(which in Hugo's book means they have to be subbed)messing up the strategy and creating a big mess.

    Or:

Hugo sticks to the "everyone attacks" strategy and gives the US chance after chance on the counter. Seen it before.

We will win: Because Sanchez will keep his defense home and pepper the US with long ball from Marquez and Pardo to speedy forwards or flanks.

We will lose: Because we still havn't figured out how to mark set pieces.

We will win because our team knows that even though we've beaten them in the last few matches they still have critics to silence.

Mexico will win, if we dont come out prepared, ready and willing to face a team with skill, desire and fan support behind them.

We will win because the advantage that Mexico supposedly has gotten with their new blood (see Guatemala) is off-set by our new blood. Michael Bradley has to prove again, as if its not showing in Holland, that he has been the best of the CONCACAF youths and does it just in the position that America uses so well to destroy Mexico's game play, CM. Oh, and Edu and Clark physically dominate as well. Adu and Altidore and attacking flair Mexico is not prepared for; Donovan and Dempsey continue to be more talented than Mexico gives them credit for, and Mexico still doesn't realize our defense and goalkeeping isn't that of Costa Rica.

We will lose because We still haven't figured out our fullbacks, Adu and Altidore are nervous, Bradley is played out of position, Altidore/Adu don't get the minutes, Dempsey is the lone striker. F quality player Pat Noonan sees the pitch.

We will win because we have LD.

We will lose because someone will injure LD, but eventhough we win the game we lose our best player.

This is what most of these people are afflicted with, it is called the A1 genetic mutation:

Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany have found a genetic factor that affects our ability to learn from our errors. The scientists demonstrated that men carrying the A1 mutation...
