It's way early, but I though I'd put out an early roster prediction to get this thread going. I expect mostly Euro-based players for this one to avoid excessive travel for the MLS/Mexican-based players.

A lot of recent transfers has led to some changes in predictions (dropping Goodson and Boca):

    G: Howard, Guzan, Yelldell
CB: Onyewu, Cameron, Ream, Whitbread [John Anthony Brooks if he accepts]
FB: Chandler, Johnson, Parkhurst, Spector [Morales, Lichaj]
CM: Bradley, Jones, Edu, Williams [Holden, Kljestan, O'Brien, Diskeruud]
W: Dempsey, Shea, Gatt, Bedoya [Gyau]
F: Altidore, Boyd, Wood, Wooten [Tony Taylor, Aron Johannson]

    Good to see Dempsey.

He had a great game vs Germany.

I don't think Johannson would be playing, if anything he'd train and then decide after if he wants to file his one time switch with FIFA.

A couple Bosnians are expected to make their first appearance for the NT this match: Ermin Bicakcic, Anel Hadzic, Tino-Sven Susic, Izet Hajrovic and maybe Sead Kolasinac if his official sports citizenship paperwork is done

Well, his last name ends in the right letter. Seriously, anything you can tell us about these players?

Well Kolasinac is the best out of these since he's a starter for Schalke and has played in the champions league this past season at 19 yrs, played as a left back and DM, but can also play CB, he's pretty much a beast. Completely took Didier Drogba out of the quarter final champions league match.

Hajrovic also might not have his citizenship papers in time to play since he was born in Switzerland but if he does, he's mostly a free kick specialist and likes to cut to his left, he has a very powerful shot. He has played one match for Swiss NT already, and is linked with Lazio and Roma

Ermin Bicakcic is another player we have big hopes for. He was voted the 2. Bundesliga defender of the year and helped his team get promoted to the Bundesliga.

Anel Hadzic is a box to box midfielder, I haven't watched him play but others who have didn't think he was that good of a player.

Tino Susic is the coaches nephew and is very versatile, he's a CM. Has also been linked to many Serie A clubs

Fun fact: Sacha Kljestan's father is from Bosnia and played in Sarajevo so it's kind of like a home coming.

Thanks. You guys already have a good team, and look to be getting better. Bosnia is going to surprise a lot of people in Brazil next summer (yes, I have Bosnia qualifying). I don't think a lot of people know anything about Bosnia aside from Dzeko and maybe a few others, but a very quality side all around and it'll be a tough test for us.

New projected line-up, considering recent injuries. Avoided bringing anyone currently on Gold Cup roster, or in MLS/Mexico, to give them a rest and get back with their club teams.

    18-man roster:
    G: Howard, Guzan
CB: Cameron, Ream, Whitbread [John Anthony Brooks if he accepts]
FB: Chandler, Johnson, Lichaj [Morales as back-up RB if needed]
CM: Bradley, Jones, Williams, Kljestan [Lletget, O'Brien]
    W: Dempsey, Gyau
F: Altidore, Boyd, Wood, Wooten [Tony Taylor, Aron Johannson]

    Out injured: Gatt, Spector, Edu

Edit: And Julian Green if he accepts!

I'll be very excited if Green is called in and accepts, though I don't think he'll be called in, and it wouldn't cap tie him, but it would be nice.

I'd be very surprised at JK if he didn't call Green to the camp. The only reason for that would be if he was really needed to be in Munich. Given that Green isn't going to break into the starting XI at BM any time this year, I think they should be able to spare him for the camp.

Of course they can spare him, but is JK using the Bosnia friendly as another look at guys with a shot at Brazil? Or is he going to call in an 18 year old? Yes, I understand the promise and the potential and the hype. Yes, I understand how important it is to let him know he's a part of our future plans, but let's be honest, he's not going to Brazil unless he starts playing for Munich this year and commits to us right away, so the question is, will JK bring him in? I guess you could bring him into camp the way Jack Mac was brought into the Gold Cup squad/camp with obviously not intention of seeing the field.

Since he turned 18 already, doesn't it mean he could be called for Bayern II any moment now? In which case he'd be busy playing the Bavarian regionals, no?

Possibly. It's very interesting to think about the 23rd slot on the WC roster. Even in our run to the quarters in 2002, we had players (like Carlos Llamosa) who played very little (if any, I should research, but I seem to recall he played about 5 minutes total). Basically, there's a throw-away spot on the roster. I think a coach should use it with a potential wild-card player, like Green, who could be a good future option. However, that's very hard to predict.

To anyone who thinks Green couldn't make our roster next summer - are you kidding? I would take him there in a heartbeat....even if he plays only 90 minutes for Bayern this season. He'd still be our second-best forward option after Altidore. (Yes, he's probably better than Boyd, EJ, Gomez, Wondow, Agudelo, Wood or Wooten).

Ever seen him play in a non-highlight capacity?

I am as excited about this guy as anyone, but that's a bit hyperbolic, don't ya think?

Why not just call up all of our decent Euro players, Diskerud, Holden, O'brien, Morales, Lichaj should definitely be there, unless Jurgen wants to let them settle in at club

  18. keller4president

I've updated my roster --- I would bring Lichaj. O'Brien is still marginal (Kljestan is better and more experienced) and Morales is playing a position we don't need help at (DM).

Mix and Holden need to get back with their clubs after a long Gold Cup - especially Holden. No need to drag them away for another friendly.

That's a pretty bold statement based on what he has actually done so far, not his potential.

Well, first of all I'm lucky that I'm in Bosnia & Herzegovina when we're playing the game. I'm really looking forward for the game and I expect two good teams playing a interesting and exiting game. Like Hasan91 said a couple of new players in the team are expected to play this game as their first appearance. I still hope that we're going to start with this team and then in the middle of the game do some changes and let the new players fit in.

    4-2-2-2.

    Begovic
    Mujdza Spahic Bicakcic Lulic
    Medunjanin Salihovic
    Pjanic Stevanovic
    Dzeko Ibisevic

If we really go with no mls players (which is no guarantee), I wonder if we'll call Clark or Yeldell in at third string keeper?

I say screw this whole no MLS players idea.
This is our only FIFA friendly match day before we head into Costa Rica.
This should be the time we try out our full strength lineup with Donovan and all the other proposed starters that will be down there in Tico land.
Give them this game to get some chemistry and cohesiveness.
Then bring the fury in Central America in September.

No way is Dolo not invited to this one, RB needs to get resolved.

Bruce Arena might blow a gasket if Donovan gets called away, I think you over estimate how much time players will practice for this one, single game date so what 3-4 days.

I think the Gold Cup players may get a break but we used mls guys in last years August friendly. I know Sarajevo is a bit further than Mexico City but still.

I wonder if Klinsmann and Arena made a deal to let Omar Gonzalez skip the Gold Cup quarterfinal in return for sending him to the August friendly early.
