Apparently the local terrestrial cable provider does not deem ESPN 2 important enough to carry on their digital line-up, but they carry ESPN Classic. How is that for assinine. Anyway, does anyone know of any bars, clubs, homes, in the SF vicinity that will show the game on Saturday. As is is starting at 9:00am, I think public houses will be scarce. Thanks, james
Which provider do you have? I have digital, and it has ESPN2. I was planning on just rolling out of bed at 8:45. If there is some interest generated, I'd be down to meet somewhere.
I was looking at the lineup on ATT Broadband's web site, they don't list ESPN2 as channel 410, at least under my zip code. Odd. Though there should be some English pubs opening up for the morning premiership matches. I might check into one of those. james
Mad Dog looks like it is going to be open. Does anyone know if there is a chance that they might be able to show the US game on one TV? Should I even call and ask? james
Where I live in the South Bay, espn2 on AT&T Digital Cable had switched from channel 410 to channel 39 back in late 2001 - early 2002.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I have ESPN2 on channel 410. Maybe it isn't consistent around town - I know that they are working on rebuilding the network and have different line-ups in different areas. Call AT&T and complain if you want. Also, You can probably get a TV at Kezar Pub a little easier than Mad Dog - but I bet Mad Dog wouldn't mind giving up a TV in the back. They're pretty much all EPL all the time.
Also, don't forget to watch Mexico get a new arse-hole ripped for them tonight (hopefully ): 7:30PM San Francisco Telemundo-affiliate channel 18 (KSFS?) MEX vs. ARG @ the Rose Bowl
I just called Kezar and the man said they'd be open before 9 if there was a US match. Their phone number: (415) 386-9292
This should be the place then - lets get as many people as we can get and meet there before 9am. Someone call the bar and confirm, I can't becuase I am working tonight. james
I live in the southern part of San Francisco. It recently switched (one/two months?) from 410 to 39. I'd be down for Kezar. A bus line runs right from my house to Kezar, so it would work perfect. That is if the line runs that early on Saturday.
Called the Mad Dog Info Football line. No mention of the US v. Argentina friendly, as they will be showing two English Premiership matches at the time. Kezar definately sounds like the place to be.
Head Count for Kezar One, maybe 2 can someone please call and confirm with the pub, and check if they will be pouring at 9:00am? james
My suggestion is to switch to RCN (if available in your neighborhood). I live in Noe Valley and switched over right before the World Cup. They carry ESPN2 as part of the basic service (you won't need digital).
Re: Head Count for Kezar I dropped by the Kezar Pub tonight and they said they would definatlely be open by 9 am at the latest on Saturday for the match. How many people are planning on going down there?
