Will you be able to post from there? Love to hear how things are going for the guys/kids. In the grand scheme of things, win/lose this tournament is for me, and others, second to the development/identification of talent. But I still love tournaments and seeing our guys play.
So, the 88s that didn't make the roster for Peru, are they enrolling in, and playing, college ball this year? What are Lichai (obviously not playing but could be in school), Borja etc... doing now?
Re: What's with the defenders?? Soulgoal--Thanks for the thoughtful response. Glad to hear you've got faith in Hackworth's selection, and he's certainly got far more info than I do. I hope his selections are proven right, and the US puts together a strong run. I'd forgotten about the possibility of Besagno in central defense; that does seem to strengthen the options to some degree. Above all, hope you and the team enjoy Peru!
Borja is a very fine player with pretty good ball skill. The only problem I see is the speed. He can be beat to a loose ball especially by those speedy forwards.
Eric Lichaj is recovering from surgery on his meniscus last week. He's probably already rehabbing. Eric has a late '88 birthday and won't graduate from high school until May '06 at the earliest. Not sure what he plans to do. He is keeping his options open.
holy sh!t we should start a Fifa hates america thread. Damn french but for real. people. honestly. stupid!
That's a decided disadvantage on turf fields where speed is so important and the fall rolls so quickly. It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out!
Some pictures of the players training on the turf that they will play their first 2 games on. There are a bunch of photos on USSoccer.com along with an audio interview w/ Quavas and there is also a video up Kevin Alston (He always has that MJ tongue in cheek thing going on) Jeremy Hall Kyle Nakazawa
any internet cafe will do..You'll find them pretty much every other block..... IIRC correctily 1 sol per hour, 1.50 for two hours in some places (about 33 cents, 50 cents of a dollar....) Just make sure you get the right exchange rate (about 3.20 soles per dollar) and that the bills/coins they give you are legit
