Bob will play: -----------Dempsey--Wolff---------------- --Beasley-----------------------Donovan-- ------------Mastroeni-Bradley------------- -Spector--Bocanegra-Onyewu--Cherundolo- ---------------Howard-------------------- Assuming everyone is healthy, I would play: -------------------EJ--------------------- ---------------Dempsey------------------- --Beasley-----------------------Donovan-- ------------Feilhaber---------------------- --------------------Bradley---------------- -Spector--Bocanegra-Onyewu--Cherundolo- -----------------Howard-------------------
I'm sure Bradley starts. Feilhaber probably won't start. I'd like to see Pearce play but probably won't get much time. I see Dolo...Gooch...Boncra...Spector ------------Mastro/Bradley-------- Donovan--------------------Beasley -----------Dempsey----EJ---------- We may win, but I think the changes/subs that would set that up will be too late.
------------------EJ----------------------- ----------------Donovan ------------------ Beasley---------------------------Dempsey ---------Feilhaber--------Mastroeni--------- Pearce-------------------------Cherundolo --------Bocanegra------Onyewu---------- -------------------Howard------------------- This is my lineup. But does Gooch have the footwork to run with the Brazilians ?
I won't be, either, that's for sure. Let's see how things shape up with the U23/Olympic effort, first. Adu and Altidore should certainly feature significantly on that squad, with one important proviso oft-discussed on other threads. I would like to see them earlier, but if all goes according to 'plan,' I expect to see both players folded into the USMNT mix post-Bejing 2008.
I don't know, but their roster is close to their "A" roster. After they submitted that roster, we couldn't very well trot out newbies. Granted, Brazil would be favored to beat anybody we throw out there. I actually envision the Christmas tree formation, which worked pretty well the one time we used it in the Gold Cup. -----------------Dempsey------ -----------Beasley-----Donovan-- -------Convey---Mastroeni--Feilhaber ----Pearce--Bocanegra--Onyewu---Dolo -----------------Howard--------- I kind like the idea. And if you think I'm crazy, this is actually how AC Milan is lining up these days. ----------------Gilardino--------- ------------Kaka----Seedorf----- -------Ambrosini--Pirlo----Gattuso-- ---Jankulovski---Nesta--Kaladze---Oddo ------------------Dida---------------- Granted their talent is slightly )) better than ours, but still..........
I have several major problems with the Christmas tree: 1. Dempsey isn't a pure striker. 2. Convey hasn't played a competitive match with Reading's first team in nearly a year. 3. Feilhaber is wasted in a right/central role. 4. Pearce will be owned by Brazi if Convey is playing ahead of him and not Beasley.
All true, which is why I prefer the 'U6 swarm' to start a game like this. It will take Brasil the entire first half just to figure it out, after which we can play more conventionally.
Yeah, I went around and around with him a bit. He is such a Bradley apologist, he won't even concede the obvious....
im just curious who you want to see (you meaning all the people complaining). Altidore was injured last game, adu is fighting for first team minutes with a top team, and well, i dont have an excuse for the lack of clark. as another poster stated, if you drop seitz and arnaud, and insert hannenman and another, this would be close to a full roster
Yes, check out www.ussoccer.com it'll have it in there. It's close to their A team, with Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho, Gilberto Silva, Juan, Alex, Lucio, Daniel Alves, etc. etc. etc. Brazil is also playing a match against Mexico while they're here.
No, for whatever his faults, Ives recognizes the obvious -- that it is worth more to keep a good relationship with MLS than to undermine it over a exhibition match. Sure, Bradley could insist on the perfect roster against Brazil like you seem to think would show something, but: 1. There is no point in doing so because he can still field what is basically his best lineup anyway. 2. There is no need to do so because this is still an exhibition match and, thus, of limited value, both in terms of player evaluation and as a learning experience; 3. By working with MLS, Bradley benefits by getting players released for longer periods at other times of the year than what is required by FIFA; and 4. Underming MLS's competitive credibility is not in the long-term interests of US Soccer.
