RE: Hotel Monaco. I just emailed reservas@hotelmonacomanaus.com.br and they replied back immediately. They confirmed my reservation (made thru Hotel.info). So it looks like just those that booked thru Booking.com is at issue....? I replied back saying that if "my friends had their reservation canceled then I'll have to move to another hotel". I'll see what they say.
Most likely through Riker, a journalist from Manaus (www.d24am.com) has reached out to me on this Hotel Monaco decision. I will most likely talk with him tomorrow. Spoke with www.booking.com last night and they said they should have an answer by Wednesday night...we shall see what they come up with.
I am thinking of organizing a roundtrip shuttle service from Hotel Monaco to the Stadium for the US-Portugal game. Option of a van or bus depending on interest. Cost will be approx. $15-$20 per person, roundtrip. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Night before and pregame party: Classic Hall (U.S. Soccer is hosting AO in Manaus) Night Before: 6 p.m. - Midnight Pre-game: 12 noon - 4 p.m. Rua Raimundo Nonato de Castro 1193 - Ponta Negra @Riker How is this place? Looks far from both theater district and stadium. AO official group wont be arriving until the day of game, looks like they are outsourcing to USSF. Looks like a very formal location for hosting parties and weddings. I prefer the empty parking lots near the stadium...but oh well.
Yeah, a bit far from both, but closer to the fan fest. It's actually where my wedding took place hahaha
Out of curiosity, is there a public website with this information? Is this event open to all? Many thanks!
It's posted on their website and it states that all US fans are welcome http://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/worldcup
I have an extra Cat 1 US vs. Portugal ticket that I am looking to trade for either Match 42 or Match 50 tickets (plus the difference). I will also consider selling it, so PM me if you are interested.
Hi My wife and I did not get tickets to the Recife game, so we are flying in to Manaus at 11 AM the day of the game and leaving at 2AM, approximately 5 hours after the game ends. Does anybody know whether we might be able to leave our suitcases at the airport in the Manaus airport? Or know of any other possible solutions? Thanks in advance for your help. Nick
We are also on a flight at 2am to Recife with a layover in Fortaleza (same flight?). I've seen several people online say that the airport has luggage storage so that is our plan.
Great, thank you. We're actually not flying to Recife, but on to Rio. But that is helpful information. Thanks again.
The bit on "Proteção de Bagagem" at this link seems to confirm the luggage storage. Any Portuguese speakers able to confirm? http://www.infraero.gov.br/index.ph...o-gomes-international-airport/facilities.html Edit: actually now that I think about it, maybe "Proteção de Bagagem" is that thing you see in developing countries where they saran-wrap your luggage.
Good Update on the Hotel Monaco debacle below. Not only did I get interviewed by a local journalist that Riker helped to facilitate, but I also received an email from a gov't representative for a newly formed department that advocates for consumers who will be in Brazil for the Cup/Olympics...so most likely some combo of threat-of-not-good-press and Brasilia poking around got this to the desired outcome. ______ Thank you for choosing Booking.com. We are writing to you regarding your reservation xxxxxxxxx at Hotel Mônaco, check-in date 2014-06-21, and check-out date 2014-06-23. We contacted the Hotel and we spoke to Erica from Reservations Department and she confirmed that will honor your reservation as original booked. Your reservation is confirmed .
