I bet Ritch wouldn't mind putting a few away against Syracuse. In autograph alley last year, I asked him about his experience in Syracuse, where he was loaned for a spell last year, and he was none too pleased with the club. I think Ryan Mack is still with Syracuse as well, he was very breifly a Crew DP last year before Matteo came back from the Metros.
I'm pretty sure Ian Woan is with the dogs this year. I was gonna say Matteo is there too, but it might be Rochester.
There's no way either of those teams gets a result at our place. How much does the Crew usually charge for US Open Cup tickets? Are they the same as an MLS game?
i believe matteo is in minnesota. but hell i am wrong more than i am right so take that in to account.
The Crew doesn't have control over USOC ticket prices, those are ran by the USSF. Same with the advertising. This is a USSF event, not a Crew or MLS event.
However, I believe full season ticket holders have two tickets (bumped up from one) that say Open Cup - Crew vs. TBD. If you don't have those tickets, in recent years all seats were $10. I think they're $10 this year as well.
In my season ticket book, I have one ticket for Open Cup, one for playoff, and one for "international". Has anyone heard anything at all about the international game?
The past few years, Open Cup games have not been buck-a-brat games. I disagree. There are always upsets in Cup competitions, and the US Open Cup is no different. Just look at last year's 4th round games between MLS teams and lower division clubs: San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) 0, Seattle Sounders (A-League) 1 Virginia Beach Mariners (A-League) 0, D.C. United (MLS) 1 Fresno Fuego (PDL) 1, Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS) 3 Dallas Burn (MLS)1, Wilmington Hammerheads (USL-PSL) 4 Chicago Fire (MLS) 4, Milwaukee Wave United (A-League) 1 Rochester Rhinos (A-League) 1, New England (MLS) 2 Two losses, and victories of 1-0, 3-1, 4-1, and 2-1. This will not be an easy game, and everyone should come out and support the Crew. Plus, its usually fun to see the Crew take on a team that they don't usually play.
No doubt. US Open Cup games are always good. We'll be playing to win the Cup and win $100,000. I think $12 is good for the tickets. I hope we'll see more than 5K at the game. Syracuse - South Jersey Barons is tonight. We'll know our opponent soon. I say Syracuse wins 2-0.
Well, the game got called tonight on account of lightning before it was finished. I think it was called in the 75th minute with the game tied 1-1. I'm assuming they'll just reschedule for another date, or what do they do here?
The game must be replayed within 7 days. Rumor has it that it'll be scheduled for this Saturday, so we won't have to wait long to find out who we're playing. Apparently USSoccer will release the 4th Round schedule later this week. The winner of our game should get one of the other 4 Eastern Conference teams. Wouldn't surprise me if it wound up being a road game, but sometimes that depends on stadium availability issues.
I think we all need to thank Jim Smith next time we see him at a game. Everyone knows these US Open Cup games don't draw much of a crowd, and an attendence of 5K probably loses the Crew money, but for whatever reason, the Crew still submitted a bid to host this upcoming game. So either Smith cares enough about the team and he wants us to win, or he cares enough about the hardcore fans that want to watch US Open Cup matches. It would have been easy to just let the team travel to Syracuse or South Jersey Barons and play in some high school stadium, but Jim Smith-thank you.

"An absolute debacle," said Salty Dogs coach Laurie Calloway. "I've never been involved in anything like this, in 40 years." This guy should be thanking the ref for calling the game, instead of bitching and moaning. When they replay the match the cards get negated. So they get to play them 11v11.
The game was finally replayed today (Monday afternoon). Syracuse Salty Dogs won 4-2. So we host Syracuse next Wednesday night, in the 3rd round. Now that the 2nd round is finally done, USSoccer announced the draw for the 4th round. Here's the relevant part: Syracuse (A-Lg) / Columbus (MLS) winner vs. Chicago Fire (MLS) Location TBA - July 20 Yay, we drew the Fire. Interesting that no home team was designated, though since Chicago is listed second, I have a feeling that they'll be the home team. Maybe they're just trying to decide whether to play in Naperville or not.

Wasn't Ian Woan the guy who played with the Fusion then when they got contracted he said MLS was equal to English 2nd Division? The same guy is on their roster. Quite a step down for him- English 2nd division to American 2nd division. Atleast he can cut it someone's 2nd division.
