I believe the date is Aug. 3.
The site is up in the air, with the HDC being used for X-Games during August.

depends on who the home team is. It would be nice to have it at CSUF. I can see it at elac as well

WTF?!#*&??? What kind of shape will that leave the field? Will they install moguls for mountain bike events and otherwise tear up the pitch?

    There goes the neighborhood.

They're holding Moto X and Dirt bike there between August 5-7. Seeing as how Galaxy/Chivas are on the road the entire month of August, it seems like the entire pitch will be torn out, and then replanted.

It looks like Galaxy or Chivas won't have another August home game the rest of the decade, since X-Games are in LA until 2009, and HDC is the perfect place to hold them.

My other problem is that the track stadium goes totally unused throughout all this. It has a max capacity of about 13,000 and I'm pretty sure it could hold the motorcycle events. I will be pissed if the soccer stadium is half empty during the event.

Aug 3, Track and Field Stadium Classico!

The field will be in worse shape for Oct than Sept, X Games requires new sod, which doesn't ever get time to take root before play starts. So it ends up with more divots than the local driving range. Remember MLS beach soccer cup last year?

Now can anyone tell us where/when the away game at Chivas will be played? For the last two months the MLS schedule is in direct conflict with the giant sign for Green Day on that day. And www.homedepotcenter.com doesn't even list another Galaxy at Chivas. So they gave the game the boot, and haven't told MLS?

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not, but I'll assume you're not and answer the question.

"Green Day" is a "punk rock" band that is playing some concerts at the HDC in August. The concerts are scheduled for October 8th and 9th, which conflicts with the last LAG vs. Chivas game at the HDC.

If you were being sarcastic, then you'll find..."It's not easy being green" ;)

Thanks. No, I was not being sarcastic. I am about 40 years older than the average punk rock fan and and had never heard of Green Day.

But pictures of Kermit always brighten my day.

I am 40 and have my tix for Greenday can't wait. just keep Aug 10th free and you'll be OK as far as the next "Classico" It will; not be at HDC so it will truly be a road game for the G thus guaranteeing a win for Chivas.

    Look on the bright side...

Both teams group of fans should petition their respective FO to allow the hot dog vendors to cater the event.

Imagine how sweet that would be! :)

Thanks for adding venue info. Its probably most likely that the matchday Oct 8 will be moved and played at HDC. I am just disappointed that it has been obvious because of the BIG SIGN, but still no announcement. But a venue change alone leaves only Fullerton, so does it mean matchday must change? C'mon let us know we have lives to live! No, really we do. Stop laughing....
