US Open Cup format has been released. http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=27894 United does not get screwed out of competing this year. United and the SoS enter in the third round with some A-League teams and tournament survivors. Games on July 16th. The rest of MLS joins in the next round.
Nice! The US Open Cup will once again be an "Open" Cup. I look forward to those Wednesday nights at RFK with 2,500 of my closest friends!
this is a good thing. it really sucks if you can't even compete for the cup. plus, i love wednesday night games, the crowd might be small, but it is hardcore.
I agree with ya. You can really tell the true obessive by the Wednesday night games. Which is why I end up there!
Thank God! I really missed the Open Cup last year. I love sparsely attended wednesday night games because our songs seem much much louder. I loved tormenting the Rochester supporters two years ago.
I like the fact that they've moved the final before the MLS Cup final. It makes it less of anti-climax. I don't like the format though...why not have all MLS clubs come in at the round of 32 like they did in 2001 and years past? Did the clubs complain?
Who says all these offseason moves haven't improved the team? Hey, we've already qualified for the Open Cup, something we couldn't quite manage last year!!!
I remember that game so clearly. When we sang "You Came a Long Way Just to Lose," the Rochester guys could actually hear and understand us, and some of them looked surprised and glum as a result. As a fan, you live for moments like that!
The word is that yes FSW will show a match a week but they have not announced the schedual yet, but a little sleuth work shows a game each week starting at 8:00 pm the same time the FSW games started last year, Plus the new USL website has a link to FSW, but the FSW site say check back soon. I still would like to see the official site. mikey
