Ok, trying to formalize and finalize some things this summer. The Triple-Header: Does the ESC bus ride and ticket for Metro's fixture at Foxboro on Sat., July 12 include tix to US v ES? Any crazies like me want more soccer, say Costa Rica v Canada prior to what matters? This begs the question of where we'd stand for Metro. Recall the Fire supporters were shoved off to an adjacent section for their match against the Revs last year. I'm going to the Monday match (7/14/03), US v Martinique and setting up for the following Saturday, July 19 with some friends when we qualify. Can we trust our lives with the usual suspects driving the van?
So basically, the ESC doesn't really have a specific place to sit but to just organize in the general admission section before the match?
No, we won't have a specific place to sit. Hopefully too many folks won't show up during the Ticos-Canada game. And hopefully some of us can get there early to scope out/claim some territory behind the south goal (where Metro sat last September). It will be a free-for-all, however!
Yeah, I can do that. But keep in mind there may be other supporter clubs coming to the stadium. (i.e. Canada or ticos). They may want to use the section for their match, in which case I wouldn't argue. But if that was the case, whatever section they choose, will clear after their game.
Just confront the Canadians or offer them an American dollar, they'll give up the seats super fast. And as for Costa Ricans.......I'll bite my tongue. But my point remains, if you guys get in as soon as the stadium opens, then you can spread out the flag over a block of seats.
I dare say we make an alternate, nay, anti-Sam's Army section that day and see who sings loudest the longest.
If its organized, I volunteer to arrive early (the beginning of the Costa Rica/Canada game) and help claim the area behind the South goal. How do I get in touch w/y'all?
though not 100% sure, I was thinking of driving up there for the matches, anyone else from NYC going up for all the matches?? maybe we can carpool up
although i am not in ESC, i (and 3-6 others) would be interested if there is a bus for this trip. cossack- there already is somewhat, called http://usasupporters.com/ this group has been going to the past bunch of games- this would be a great opportunity to set up a seperate section but the problem is that their section is already designated a "supporters section" i don't think any other sections are.
It's fair to say there's a whole milieu of US support that's not in either ESC or Sam's Army. Ideally, I want to be with my fellow ESCers for the Metro match and with the folks that have a tendency to leave it in the stands and not in front of the BBQ for the US match. My present thinking is to watch Canada v Ticos on the south end where the ESC supposedly would be after that. If that's also where a good, healthy number of 13, Yanks, La Norte, etc. are then all the better. My feeling is these groups will be in the "Sam's" end. Now you see the ticket dilemma. Big question: will a ESC ticket "allow" us to move into the north end after Metro if we want?
It doesn't sound like that bad of an idea, the ESC section staying put and cheering on the US not from the Fort. It would give us two sections of support for the US on different sides of the field in surround sound. Give the fort, the 30 x 60 flag and we can use a smaller one. ----------------------
I'm in for a stand alone section. Not that I want to make a permanent schism from SA, even though I am not a member, I would like to see if it could work out, kinda how we did it for the USA-Uruguay game. I remember some Metro Bhoyz there aside from the usual nooterz. I'd be interested in this, just a one-off tho, if I even go at all.
I started this thinking the US would need to win in order to get to Copa America. Seems the steam is a bit taken away if they get the automatic invite to Peru. If so, I'm skipping the following matches.
