    Check out Kilroys in Springfield
Soccer-nation bars in DC (Lucky Bar)

Kilroys will have the game on tonight. $2 for wings and good beer selection. I'm on my way up to save some barstools for a few Barra members. If you're in the Springfield area stop by :)

That's crap, I thought Summer's was a US Soccer establishment?

Hmmm...show a US - Honduras friendly that's available on FSW, or a Brazil-Argentina WC qualifier that's only available on closed circuit, and charge a full house 30 bucks a head?

I can't blame Joe for that one - it's not like he left US fans with nowhere else to go, whereas there weren't too many other places around showing perhaps the biggest South American match of the year. Even if he had put the US match on, he probably still would have had to charge the $30 cover...

Now if it was a US WCQ, that would be a different story.

Agree with EdTheRed here. Summers is a Soccer establishment that happens to be located in the US, and close by. We should be thankful.

From the highlights I saw the ARG/BRA match wasn't much to see Argentine's goal was the best fought, the rest of the match was precious Rinaldo taking dives for a hat trick....anyhoo.

I was being a little cynical, but still there are multiple rooms there and a section could have been set aside for the US game. Was it SRO for the CONMEBOL game? If so, then it's easy to see why Joe would want to do that.

Watched at the Lucky Bar. No sound on the 1st & 2nd Floor but there was sound on the 3rd floor. Most of the bar crowd seemed to be there for the game because after McBride's first goal the 2nd floor room erupted in joyous cheers... Good time was had by all (excepting the couple of Honduras supporters...).

    :)

Penny Lane Pub had both the US and Brazil matches on, and both were visible from anywhere you sat (no cover either). MUCH better beer selection too!

Just another reason why Summers doesn't deserve our business. They are little people with little minds who care only about the quick buck. If they were committed to long term goals - growth of US Soccer, DC United/MLS,they would sponsor more and be a bigger part of the greater community. And we wouldn't have to guess if they are going to show the final tune up for the US. Ridiculous.

I've noticed that Summers has been trying to move into the NBA/Basketball direction and cultivate that clientele; the other night they reserved the Big Screen and half the small screens for a stupid NBA game all night while I forced to settle for a corner monitor to watch an MLS game (not United but I still wanted to watch it)... new bar area in front of restaurant has a bunch of screens but I prefer big screen in back!

I was not amused! Protest forwarded to Johnnie!

I agree with what most of what u say...however, Summers' is a business establishment first, and as such..Summer's has to make money, if US Soccer was going to pay Summers' to show the game, then I believe there'd be no problem.

Would this have been for an NBA Conference Final game?

Compared to a non-United MLS Regular Season game, that's gonna win out most of the time in any Sports Bar, soccer-oriented or not.

Oy, the nerve of a for profit business trying to earn money. And yeah, Summers really doesn't do much for soccer like stay open 24 hrs for the World Cup or opening up at other ungodly early hrs so people can see wacky matches like Iran-Australia or the Olympic matches from Sydney.

But I'm sure Keeney and Zack will be pleased you ranted here for them.

Actually... to come to their defense...Summers did open for the World Cup late games from Korea last time... I went to several in late-night/early-morning (2:00 am) time period and restaurant was open...but food was terrible! Best to order egg and beer during this time period.

I was mad that I didn't learn about it sooner especially after sending emails that they would have it. I should have confirmed first (which I didn't) and I'm VERY sorry if people went there and got turned away.

Joe can definitely be a weird cat sometimes but if people don't like the place don't go there.

Surely that is the real injustice here? Not Joe's commitment to, or lack thereof, US soccer, but his persistent attempts to kill me. The food is awful. The only edible thing on the menu is the children's chicken tenders with fries, and they wouldn't let me order that last time. I was outraged!

Even the fried eggs suck. And those weird home fries! Ugh. And the pasta:
"I ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce, I got egg noodles with ketchup."

Definitely one of the best quote's today!

Of course not quite up the "Melwood" caption in the Super Short Bus thread... but then again, it is hard to live up to the wit and wisdom of FB from Rural Georgia...
