These retro jerseys are just a crass attempt to increase merchandising sales by making people own multiple jerseys.

By the way, where can I get one? ;)

Yeah, I thought they'd be wearing this:

    http://procart2.evocative.com/bigsoccer_productimages/BS_02_USA0001.gif That's the 1950 shirt.

But according to the description on ussoccerstore.com, this new shirt is modeled after that shirt...yet not the same.

And in case anyone was wondering, TOFFS does have it right, with the red stripe, because here's a picture of the original:

That said, I think the new retro version does look good, though. I especially like the USA shield, which looks so much classier than the modern version, with reversed color scheme (ie - red field and blue stripes).

I was thinking the shield looks cool, too.

They can't fool us! We want the one with the long sleaves and the red sash! That's the real deal.

That's a good idea. Buying from the USSF also helps them directly a bit.
I wonder if the team will wear the black stripe or the red one against new zealand?

It could actually be the Jersey that was worn on the US National team's inaugural game against Sweden in 1914 in Sweden(which the US won 3-2 :D ).
The red sash most likely came around in the 1940's before the 1950 WC.

i think it looks better than the red sash. simple and old school. i like the old shield better than the current one as well. ordered mine the second i saw it online. the only question is that i want to personalize it, but i dont know who i should pick. Anyone know what number Adu will wear?

It's hard to say what number he'll wear when he gets to the senior squad but he wears 11 now.
    Maybe he still will.
I'm going to get a Galaxy jersey and have Adu put on it as soon as they come in.

I wore mine to the Wales game. I appear to be the only person in the universe who owns one ;)

Glad to see the USSF being creative - excellent work.

Now - how about a RED jersey? I mean, really - all of us wear red to the friggin games...

Adu should be a Number 9 IMO.

    He's been wearing #11 for the U17s.

And. for the record, in the Wales match, Alecko Eskandarian wore #11. Mathis has been wearing #11 though...

By the time Adu blossoms in senior competition, I see Adu in the 11 jersey. Or, perhaps the 1. (And give the GK 11).

There is, however, that third version with the present US soccer logo that has been seen at various locales (Max Bretos on the set of the Worst Damn Sports Show Period, and given to two or three fans at the WNT-Canada match at RFK for the halftime shootout).

I hope some rap star wears it in a video and hundreds of fashion-conscious folk start storming the local malls.
