I tend toward the BSky position at goalkeeper. You're just not going to see the variety of top level shots playing in MLS that you need to see. There is a long list of best-keeper-in-MLSes who get found out at higher levels, no so much because they lack the raw talent but because they just don't see the variety of high-end finishing. It's hard to see how Turner can't get enough of that experience by 2022. But he's done as well as he can with what he has. And I wouldn't stress if he were given the opportunity at #1.
Sorry NOT impressed by Turner... clearly he needs to go rot on the bench of some Champo relegation strugglers to even be in the conversation!! The last dozen pages of this thread sure must be a fun read lol
So, @bsky22, you've dona a lot of talking about how the rest of us are ignorant about the topic and professed your experience at a "higher level". What is the highest level of soccer you've played? Show your work.
Congratulations @headdturnerr on being selected by U.S. Soccer Insiders as tonight's @BudweiserUSA Man of the Match 👏 pic.twitter.com/WffiK5pxD0— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) July 30, 2021 Shocker
are people expecting us to play everton and frankfurt in qualifying? yall are looking past a lot of pretty important stuff...
yup, and frankly, ultimately I think one of the most valuable elements of the Gold Cup is that we are in good hands 3 deep, just like the "olden days"
@bsky22, surprise us here and give your assessment of Turner's game today and also tell us what your personal highest level of play is. You're the resident expert.
I think you can ask anyone with even a mild interest in MLS. Turner has Howard potential. He is just a fantastic player.
I know Steffen is on Man City but I rate Steffen as our 3rd best keeper. Man Turner looks good out there.
This was interesting from Matt Turner when discussing the head games leading up to the penalty. #USMNT pic.twitter.com/x1E1k5jhW0— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) July 30, 2021
Mimicking his run-up, what a legend! Also credit where it's due, Acosta with the expert level Concacaf sh*thousery on the penalties in both the Nations League final and Gold Cup semifinal Penalty Disruption 101 pic.twitter.com/BQl1knLltl— watke (@watke_) July 30, 2021
The one with Zach Thornton, Johnny Walker, Kevin Hartmann, Matt Reis, Troy Perkins, Sean Johnson, Bill Hamid, etc. on it.

I’m assuming all those other guys left MLS as the best shot stoppers in league history? From before this game: 1420443767211970560 is not a valid tweet id
