The key is to avoid an outcome that will embarrass the US national team during the Women's World Cup. So win comfortably.
It's not like I have some deserved rep for being a jinx. We'll see what transpires tonight and go from there.
I'm fine with saving Jozy for the last 2 rounds, but starting a meh striker against a guy whos been the best keeper in this tournament is slightly worrying
I had this lineup except Jozy and Roldan instead of Zardes and Wes. I think Zardes and Wes have more mobility v. Jamaica. Wes will have a harder time v. Mexico as we saw when they played friendly. Wes would have more height v. Jamaica, Roldan better v. Mexico. otherwise I can see why Berhalter chose his roster
is there any reason to think we are saving jozy for the last two rounds? has berhalter said that? cause all evidence says this is our first team period. however much we want or speculate this seems to be it. am i missing something?
I do vaguely recall Gregg saying Jozy was the best striker in the pool, and his fitness has been a concern. That said we'll find out in the semis (if we get there)
I’ll say this... you are certainly consistent. You’re literally the only person who thinks Roldan is better in any situation than Wes. Even Roldan doesn’t think that. Wes is a much much better player.
yeah, hes said that i just think people are extrapolating that into what they want to happen. ill believe it when i see it.
After watching Steve Nicol on ESPN bellowing like Fat Bastard that this entire competition is a complete waste of time for Team USA, I, for one, don't mind seeing the so-called "fringe" players get a shot. So if Roldan gets in the game and does well, that is certainly healthy competition for McKennie. And how would we know that Boyd is as good as he is if not for this tourney?
Yeah, but, on a hopeful note, he is coming off a brace. But that was last week, and tonight's tonight. I don't know if it's that Ggg doesn't yet trust Jozy's fitness, or if he's just being extremely conservative in thinking that he shouldn't fix what ain't broke, and feel that there's chemistry building going on. (In any case, I do hope that his thinking doesn't extend beyond this tournament.)
"better in any situation" - I don't think I've ever said that. In fact I just said that I'd take Wes v. Jamaica because we could use his height (in the box, especially, I meant) and when we get through Jamaica we face Mexico who played v Wes and Wes didn't come off looking all that good.
The problem is that most believe that this is Eggs top 11, minus adams at rb. So this is likely what you're getting moving forward, and it's not simply testing out new players and uncovering depth.
Who are these "most" people? And because you just made that first part up you think that this is what we're getting going forward. Nonsense from start to finish.
I really think the US wins this 5-0 (maybe 5-1) unless they do not come out hard. Curacao is just too poor a team for them to hold against the US even if the US plays badly.
