As a HUGE thank you to all of the soccer fans who voted for Summers as the Best Soccer Bar, Joe will be showing the US-Canada game for free (this is a PPV event so elsewhere it's $20 a head).

Great move by Joe here. Wish we could make it but we will be at my son's gymnastics meet that night.

I'll ask Joe, Robert or Johnny if we could put a keg (probably empty) on our table just to make Chico, R&B and others feel at home! ;)

Maybe we'll get lucky and the toilet will overflow. It'll be just like partying down on Lot 8. ;)

This is a large gesture as joe is paying a significant fee to Setanta for the feed. Thanks and Congrats to Summers.

I'd love to get up to Summers some time.

For now, it's still Richmond, where I'm a relative newcomer. Anyone know a place here where they might be showing the game?

This is a great gesture by Joe, and I hope the fans continue to reward him with their patronage. Make an effort to watch this game at Summers.

Personally, I will not be there as I will be at the game in person, but I will show Joe my gratitude by drinking a lot on Friday. :)

How's the food at Summer's? Is it worth having dinner there before hand?

It's bar food: wings, burgers, burritos, sandwiches, chicken fingers, etc. I think people like the burgers and I know someone who always get the club sandwih (I like the veggie burger and the tostada salad). Fish and chips is good too.

It's decent, not 4 star, but not bad either. Fairly inexpensive as well.

My understanding was that it was satellite only, but I could be mistaken.

As an aside, I was at Summers on Sunday. Since I was watching slow-moving, commerical-filled American football, there was time for an extended conversation with Joe. He's moving forward on renovation plans and will likely have to close for 4-6 weeks when the kitchen is closed. He's aiming for the window between the FA Cup final and the Confederations Cup, with a potential grand re-opening for the Confederations Cup in June.

I will be at Summers to watch the game with the psycho fans. I am glad the game time does not conflict with NFL football.
