Let me guess....the refs cheated the Cosmos out of the tournament again, at MLS' direction? Also, I doubt the Phoenix braintrust knows this, though they may be thinking of avoiding the same outcome: The Chicago Fire made the mistake of playing Peter Nowak against the Indiana Blast in one of those MLS-USL friendlies in June 2002 and he suffered a left knee injury that effectively ended his career. There was no real need for Nowak to play in that game. There is no real reason for two older, highly valuable players to play on a baseball field in Fresno, Open Cup or no Open Cup.
(And Fresno isn't actually playing at its baseball stadium tonight, they're playing at a college soccer stadium, but the point stands.)
Another NASL team in trouble. (still early) Another Cupset in the making? @burlingamefc of @USLPDL up 1-0 over @sfdeltas in San Fran. #USOC2017 https://t.co/cKHXKhVUCK— U.S. Open Cup (@opencup) May 18, 2017
