I think we find out at later today who's playing who in next round. It would make sense to have Strikers VS Orlando, and Cosmos VS Red Bulls. hope they both get to play at home.

Thought this was a cute tweet by the Strikers: Don't worry @TampaBayRowdies, this is just a Florida Derby. THE #FloridaDerby is still our thing. https://t.co/HRRN6dESQ7— Fort Lauderdale Strikers FC (@FTLStrikers) June 30, 2016

A very pleasant surprise, especially winning on a goal in minute 120 to seal the deal . This the deepest the Strikers have gone in the USOC during the NASL's modern era. Now it is on to Chicago and we'll see what happens there. Hopefully we can keep the good times rolling...
The Fire seem ripe for the plucking as the worst MLS team, but then nobody expected them to get this far and it's not like they have anything else to play for.
Isn't it during any NASL era, considering the old NASL never participated in the USOC? The Fire also are the winningest USOC team since Maccabi LA won its fifth title 15 years before MLS started, so they've certainly proven they're good at this particular tournament.
Not since 2006. But we are very good at home in the cup. #USOC2016 stats: With the win tonight, @ChicagoFire improve to 24-1-2 (1-1 PKs) all-time at home in USOC play #cf97— TheCup.us (@usopencup) June 29, 2016
I assume you're talking about just recent years and not overall, then, since Chicago's 4 titles + 2 runners-up (one in 2011) is third-best all-time after Maccabi LA and Bethlehem Steel. Also were semifinalists in the past 3 years, so four top-4 finishes in just the past 5 years - that's still pretty darn good, especially considering no team has made the quarterfinals more than 4 times in the past 4 years+now. Also worth noting that the Fire still qualified every year since 2006 even before the USOC default accepted all MLS teams, so there are some extra wins you can potentially count.
Quarterfinals: Home team first. Times are EDT. Wednesday, July 20 New England Revolution (MLS) v. Philadelphia Union (MLS) 7:30 pm Chicago Fire (MLS) v. Fort Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) 8:30 pm Houston Dynamo (MLS) v. FC Dallas (MLS) 8:30 pm LA Galaxy (MLS) v. Seattle Sounders (MLS) 10:30 pm Semifinals August 10 at locations TBD. New England/Philadelphia winner v. Chicago/Fort Lauderdale winner Houston/Dallas winner v. Galaxy/Seattle winner

Because every time an MLS team loses (or even goes to penalties), the prawns go freaking nuts about how one-off midweek results against disinterested MLS teams proves there's equality between the levels and there obviously should be pro/rel and the cabal and blah blah blah blah blah. It's like Don't Take Your Brain to Work Day.
I hear that but I honestly think this years format reduce that since it looks like starting round 2 USL will play NASL teams and the more vocal fans won't have an easier ride, for example the Cosmos could be playing Harrisburg or the Rhinos in the second round instead of the NJ Express (amateur side) and if they get through then they'll probably play another USL or NASL side. So its not going to be easy for them to get to that eventual RBNY or NYCFC game (which is their cup game to be fair). Still you're probably right since they're still going to be fans needing validation from beating a B or worse MLS side.
