For the most part, their "team" was the US team. I don't believe the '90 team had too many full time professionals.

Was there anyone on that squad (beside Desmond Armstrong) that didn't have a mullet?

Well, trolling the web for a while I've come up with this so far, but it hasn't been easy! It's true that most of these guys played full time for the nats. but at the time, they also played on the "off season" for the following clubs, universities.

Here's the skinny on the 1990 WC team, after much reading and web trolling. The core of that team was the 1988 Olympic team. In mid 1989, when the US beat Trinidad to qualify, the USSF signed all the players then on the team to full-time contracts. Only Vermes and Sullivan (playing in Europe) and the collegians didn't sign. We had the youngest team at Italia 90.

Clearly, we've come a long way since then!!!

Here's the final roster, with one correction: Kasey was still at U of Portland. Given what I said above, this represents mostly the players most recent afflication before signing with US Soccer.

    [ 1] MEOLA Tony (GK)--University of Virginia
    [ 2] TRITTSCHUH Steve--Tampa Bay Rowdies (ASL)
[ 3] DOYLE John--University of San Francisco, San Francisco Bay Blackhawks
    [ 4] BANKS Jimmy--Milwaukee Wave (indoor)
    [ 5] WINDISCHMANN Michael--Brooklyn Italians?
    [ 6] HARKES John--Albany (ASL)
    [ 7] RAMOS Tab--Miami (ASL)
    [ 8] BLISS Brian--Boston Bolts (ASL)
    *[ 9] SULLIVAN Christopher--Raba Eto, Hungary
    *[10] VERMES Peter--Volendam (Netherlands)
[11] WYNALDA Eric--San Francisco Bay Blackhawks
[12] KRUMPE Paul--unaffilated. was working as aerospace engineer, coaching women's soccer, previously with Hollywood Kickers, of Western Soccer Alliance
    [13] EICHMANN Eric--Fort Lauderdale Strikers
[14] STOLLMEYER John--unaffilated: to 1988 was with Cleveland Force (indoor)
[15] ARMSTRONG Desmond--Unaffiliated. Had played with Baltimore Blast MISL (indoor league) before breaking leg in 1989
    [16] MURRAY Bruce--Washington Stars APSL
[17] BALBOA Marcelo--San Francisco Bay Blackhawks
[18] KELLER Kasey (GK)--University of Portland, Portland Timbers (WSL)
    [19] HENDERSON Chris--UCLA
    *[20] CALIGIURI Paul--SV Meppen (Germany)
    [21] COVONE Neil--Wake Forest
[22] VANOLE David (GK)--unaffilated. previously with San Jose Earthquakes, WSA
