What I do has no effect on what Colombia will do on Saturday thousands of miles away.

Alright, throw your starting formation :

    ----------Ospina

    Munoz-------D.Sanchez-----Mina -----Tesillo

    Cardona --Barrios----Cuellar -----Diaz

    Borre ----Zapata -----

I know what we lose with Cardona. But he's the only clutch player we have in the NT and shows up when we most need it. Even if he's not at 100%, 1 pass, 1 shot that's all it takes. Look at Uruguay's win vs Paraguay. Stupid push in the box earns the penalty and eventually the win.

No matter what, these guys have to bring it.

In that formation with those players I would also say Cardona should not be a complaint by anyone.
In addition to the reasons you give he would also give us the best option for FKs and Corners in that lineup.
Personally I would go with this though:

    ----------Ospina

    Munoz------Mina---- Davinson -----Fabra

    --Barrios----------Cuellar -------------
    ----------------Cardona------------------

    Diaz--------Duvan--------------Muriel

I thought about Fabra as well but if Rueda didnt use him in less important matches I just don't know if he'll trust the hole he's going to leave behind his flank. I guess if we're going to leave this tournament, I'd rather we do it with a dominant team on offense.

More than likely Tesillo will get the nod.

I just think Fabra would give us a better chance to win. Especially with his chemistry with Barrios and Cardona.

Fun fact , the last time Colombia played in the estadio Mane Garrincha Colombia beat Ivory Coast in World Cup '14.

Unfortunately, only Ospina is left from the team that won that day since Cuadrado is suspended.

Yeah in the group stage. I tried again for against England but I guess it's one run per competition.

Fabra isn’t going to start Rueda has given him 0 minutes.

I wonder if he will play Munoz in Cuadrado spot or Medina.

Valverde's game has been improving in this Copa, but between Nandez and DeLaCruz they are giving their team a lot of width. I don't see Tabarez taking the game to us the way he did it vs Paraguay. He knows our team is prone to make a mistake in the back. There have been some close calls with Ospina's clearance and we all know that Mina trusts his feet a little more than he should.

Regardless of what they do we can't just possess the ball for 90 minutes and wait for the1 minute of inspiration. Most of our goals/threat start from outside the box but need to see a bit more threat from balls thru the middle/ground (something Cardona can do well). Godin + Jimenez are locks high in the air and we need to use our player's agility and speed to beat them down low or at least a mix of it all.

Colombia needs to stop/slow down the game. I feel it works against us and the rhythm of play. I would have to guess not having Cuadrado will help us in this dept somewhat.

The only things I think we will miss from Cuadrado is his crossing ability (both during the run of play and set pieces.) and the way he knows how to hold the ball and draw fouls from physical teams like Uruguay.

Other than that he just does not seem like the same Cuadrado who played in Qualifiers. Seems to me like he needs a break to recharge his batteries and get his head straight. He has played way too many minutes for both Juve and Colombia these last few months.

Honestly Cuadrado needed thr long deserved break. It was annoying not seeing hum subbed and given a chance to recover. 90 minutes games multiple times in the same week would have caught up to him.

    In other news :
The ref that has been assigned to our match is a Spaniard.
Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. But we shall soon find out.
