Remember when we opened up the can of whoop-ass on the Fire up at Soldier Field early this season? Remember how the Fire fans were quick to tell us that it was more because they sucked on the night than we were actually good? Maybe they were right. The Fire lost again tonight, this time to the Metros 2-1. This brings their record to [drumroll] 4 wins, 7 losses, 7 ties. They are now winless in their last eight games. And had the Revolution not gagged in injury time in San Jose, the Fire would be in last place in the sorry-ass East right now.
Oh, let's not go impersonating Fire fans, now. The Brimstone demands respect - and everytime it is on display, both sides better come to play or there will be an a-whoopin', no matter who has been playing the better soccer. Remember last season, and the second leg - the Fire had every reason to believe that they were going to smoke us like a Cuban. So I frankly don't care if the Fire don't win another game between now and then and we go top of the table - we better Bring It for the Brimstone. Or we will pay the price.
While we were busy handing the game to the Crew last night, the Fire were busy bending over and sticking their asses in the air for Colorado, extending their winless streak in league games to 9.
But of course, this has no bearing on the game on August 28. When it comes to the Brimstone Cup, you throw out the records.
Now now...our division isn't 'sorry-assed', it's just 'quality-challenged'. Or 'draw-obsessed'. Maybe more like 'Galvan Rey-plagued'. But 'sorry-assed'...harrumph...
maybe it's not "sorry-assed" yet, because there's always room to get worse... but the east vs. the west hasn't been much of a contest this year.
Chicago has hit a new low......combine the loss of DMB and Thorton leaving before the season to go and sit the bench(no offense to Ring but Thorton seemed to make the players twice as confident) has really hurt the "cold" FIRE
September 20, 2003: Dallas 2 vs Chicago 0....the best game we had at Southlake. The team is too inconsistent this year to know which will show up, but I think I'm going to bring friends because this game is always a good one
"I'm just happy to be here and hope I can help the ball club. You know, you got to take them one day at a time. Reyan, that's a beautiful name. Is that Greek? You know that song by Motly Crew? Reyan she's a stay-an?" Anyway... You know a good firend of mine once said, 'this is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball. Sometimes you win, sometims you lose, and sometimes it rains.' Think about that for a minute."
I think we'd be wasting our time betting on whether Buzz had to look that up. So, who wants to set the over-under on how long it took him to remember all that? (For those that don't know the guy, think "seconds" not "minutes.")
