They mentioned a match between the Guatamalan Nats and the Rapids last night.

I'm curious if the A & B tickets that came with the season tickets are for playoffs and any exhibition games or will they send new tickets for the playoffs?

Also, anyone have a clue as to what day this game is?

The PA announcer mentioned the game last night: Rapids vs. Guatemala, Wed. Oct. 15, 7:30. I don't know about the A/B tickets...

I had talked with my rep asking about the A/B tickets ... what I was told is that an exhibition game is being played in Oct. This must be the game. The other I'm sure is for the playoffs.

Wonder if Ruiz and Garcia will play for the Guatemalan side?

    Rapidfire addresses this today:

"Season Ticket Holders will use "PLAYOFF GAME 1" tickets for the first round home game and "GAME B" tickets for the Conference Championship game if played at INVESCO Field.

RAPIDS ANNOUNCE MATCH VS. GUATEMALAN NATIONAL TEAM: WED. OCT. 15 Season Ticket Holders with full-season packages will use their "GAME A" ticket for this game.

Anyone have an idea what the point of this friendly is? Arranging a random friendly at the tail end of the season seems weird to me, especially with the playoffs looming. One bad injury to a starter in this match could ruin everything.

Maybe we could throw the reserve squad to the wolves, if that's the case.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Hey it doesn't hurt to try and make some money, a la WUSA, but yes a bad injury could mess up our chances for a good run.

Do you guys think that 3 days before they play Chicago, Hanks will put all the starters out there for a friendly?

    Look for this lineup.

    Schmidt - Zizi
    Powell - Trembley - Kingsley - Blake
    Rizo - Crawford - Piserchio - RapidMan
    Cannon

Vallow and Foss will come on as subs. Also look for a surprise third sub, Sleeth and Stewart to replace Rapidman. They will play a defensive midfield role, "sack race" style with their bad leg/foot bandaged together.

I guess it's late. To paraphrase the late Graham Chapman, this post started off well, but then it just got silly.

RapidMan plays in goal, haven't you noticed the gloves. I doubt that we ever see PornoJoe this season, kinda makes signing him worth it...

Another MLS club, San Jose, is playing Chivas the night before. Or scheduled to anyway. Are other teams adding these exhibitions at odd times?

seems like it would make more sense to have these friendlies after the season is over. Trying to imagine a big Euro side scheduling a late-season friendly a few days before a crucial match in a title run-in. Of course they have bigger squads.

On the other hand, if the draw is to bring in ethnic fans, then they don't care if it's the Rapid reserves, they want to see THEIR team.

May be a good match to test out Powell and Cannon.

    Powell plays soccer?

Seriously, we finally get to see the nech play a game. and not again a Bosnian team. I say it's a great idea.

I wouldn't expect 128 to cheer against the Guatamelan team.

I think that the majority of them are from Guatemala, so I'm sure you're right.

Borchers, Trembly, Beckerman and Schmidt will miss this game to be at the U-23 friendly against Haiti in Florida on Oct. 15. So much for playing the bench and resting the starters. Who will that leave from the bench to play on the field?...ZiZi. Powell,Blake, Crawford, Rizo, ...I know I'm missing someone here. I sure hope none of our starters get hurt.

Honsetly in this game I'm all for playing all of our subs or as many as we can, including Cannon. What better time to get some of these guys in a game.

Didn't see your post. But with the exception of Schmidt and maybe Trembly, we still have all our other guys. They could play

    Zizi, CC
    Crawford, Powell, Chung,Kingsley
    Blake, Piserchio, Rizo. Hart
    Cannon

I really have no idea what kind of cluster #### this would cause but I'd like to see the forwards and at least chung get some more game time to play with Powell and I'm actually just plain curious how these other guys play.

Yeah, that's a lot more still available than I realized. It's been kind of a slow morning mentally!

I say get them (as many bench playeer as possible) on the field and let them get the experience. We need to see who's gonna be able to back up the starters during the playoffs. So what if we lose; it's just a friendly. Good point about getting some of our big guns out there with Powell for some playing time in a game situation.
