the three that come to mind are jacob lensky at feyenoord, kyle sylva at sporting lisbon youth, and david hoillet at Paderborn in the 2nd bundesliga. I think lensky and sylva might already be lost causes though.

 

hey, lets not forget there are many more young guys out there that have already played for canada at the u-20 or even u-17 level that are playing in europe or elsewhere who have a lot of potential. i bet in the next few years we will have a GOOD handful of up and coming stars that will wear the red and white very soon and wear it proudly!

lets not get all down on the canadian talent. i bet we will have a berth in the world cup in 2010 -2014!

 

Lots of Canadian youngsters with big clubs in Europe, 4 or 5 with premier league reserve/youth teams, a couple with Ajax, etc, etc.

I don't know alot about Sylva but two players whose international future has been and will continue to be subject to debate are Lensky and Adam Street from West Ham. I think Street might have been called for England and Canada at various points, he is still very young.

Lensky has played for Canada at U-20 level but is eligible for an eastern european team through his dad. I think if he is not called by the other country (Czech Rep. or Slovakia) he will be cap tied to Canada when he turns 21 next December.

 

The other one I forgot to mention is Brandon Bonifacio. He's 18 and he's already getting consistent playing time at Cambuur Leeuwarden in the Dutch Eerste Divisie (2nd league)

 

I have yet to hear anything about Silva since he joined the Sporting Academy (don't know why some are assuming he will chose Portugal). Street was apart of our U-17 qualifying IIRC.

 

i can't see him choosing holland over canada. but then again i wouldn't expect that of jono either...

 

I remember reading somewhere on Vs he is going to get called up for Olympic qualifying.

 

Oh, me neither, I think hes certainly going to play for Canada; i dont think hes lived in Holland for more than 2 years and hes certainly not the player Jonathan was 2 years ago, so its not something to worry about. I just mentioned him as an up and coming player with a lot of potential to figure in our national setup; I assumed the purpose of the thread was not just to wallow over all the potential future stars who might not play for Canada but to discuss those who likely will represent Canada as well.

 

so does anyone know how bonifacio is doing? i always check for his name on the scoresheet but i don't think he's potted any goals... but it's encouraging taht he's getting playing time!

 

No love for David Edgar? I'd say he's a definite up-and-coming Canadien talent.

well, i can tell you that for me it was a very sweet surprise when we were playing some friendlies last year in the build up to the u-20 world cup that he scored 5 goals in like 3 matches! however since then, in the (in the world cup and at the college level) he hasn't produced as much on the scoresheet - but he has probably grown quite a bit in his role. it's always tough though because when you take someone with a poaching style and try to convert them to a different system, one can potentially damage their way of playing. i hope this isn't the case.

he is very young at this point but i would expect the likes of him, simeon jackson, mike d'agostino and jamie peters to help our offence in the coming years.

 

Could he still play for Canada?

It was actually a U21 game (though 23 yr olds were eligible) he played in back in 2006.

Steven Vitoria of Toronto played for Portugal as a CB last summer at the U20 WC.

Kyle Silva went to Sporting a couple of years ago as a 12/13 year old. If he's good enough to play for Portugal youth he's probably as good as gone.

Abde Sylla is a '92 that should turn some heads soon...

 

I dont know wut people find interesting about Simeon Jackson...he's not even good, too slow and not very gifted technically + he plays for the 5th league in England which, imo, is under the USL, which means that league is very bad because the USL really sucks balls + you might as well play for a local club at your local neibourghood if you're about to play for such a low caliber, on the other hand, i like wut I see from Asmir Begovic and David Edgar, two bright lights for the future.

btw anyone ever wondered why is Jonathan Beaulieu Bourgeault most of the time get called up for u-20 and u-23 beside the fact he's under those ages? I do believe he might be ok in an impossible future and thats because im bein nice...but from wut Ive seen from him, he's way too shy on the ball and has lil talent and Im really bein pist they call him up and not me .

 

For one thing, I don't think very many people rate Jackson all that highly. I know one person mentioned him in passing on this thread, but I don't think anyone really rates him as high as Edgar, Lensky, Hainault, Begovic, Peters etc. Also, you're completely wrong about saying he's only playing at a USL level. The guy plays in League One, going up against the likes of Leeds Utd, Nottingham Forest, Swansea, Doncaster, Oldham and Yeovil every week. I'm sure even someone like you would rate these sides higher than the USL. Also, what you said about JBB.. nobody here's saying he's national team material. I hope he gets more playing time, and we're all happy to see him seeing some action in the Bundesliga 2, but when nobody mentions him as an up and coming player, theres no reason to go about bashing him as someone who's going to amount to anything.

 

I would beg to differ that Jackson is slow, sure he is not going to make a perfect cross into the box, but he is a true striker.
He will receive a ball cleanly and put it in the back of the net.

I know for a fact though, when he was at Rushden and Diamonds he made a lot of nice through balls to send guys in for the goal.

Also, he has been seeing regular playing time at Gillingham FC, but they are League 1 team in England, third step in the English pyramid which has players on par with MLS.

Is he going to be on the National squad? I don't know, but he has the potential too, just give the kid a chance, he is only 20 years old.

 

alright, i have to take my words back, my review of Simeon Jackson was biased I tought he was still playing for RUshden matter fact maybe my whole point is biased since Im judgin him from the few game Ive seen in the U-20 but matter fact the whole team did very bad so there's nuttin to take out of that tournament. Last I heard he's one of the bright canadian abroad so I wish him the best, dont get me wrong my opinion was wrong based on wut he did at the u-20 and I could really say he was awful missing way too much chance ... but I'll give a him a closer look in the near future.

and why I did bring JBB is because have you notice that he always get called up...and I can't understand why. If someone always get called up lately it's because he must have a certain amongst of skills which JBB didnt sell me on this one...If it wasn't for Will Johnson release from his club, we would JBB on the field with our u-23 olympic squad and I do think we all can agree that JBB have done nuttin good since he's with the NT at any level. Not that he's a bad player but unfortunately an obstacle would do a better from wut Ive seen so far.

In need of a goalie lets not worry on that part the future is with Begovic on loan to some Lower league from Portsmouth.

Maybe Canada in two years could get the players back clearly Jo D Guzman. I think the others Canada will be able to keep them also Lensky and others.

Now Canada need at least two more Canadian teams in MLS to have them play in a higher level than USL no offence to the league at all.
