    Oh .... :(
On the upside ... maybe he will get more playing time elsewhere.

I'm surprised to see Bhencke on the list. I wonder if he is leaning towards ending his soccer career.

Interesting that Matchnight is reporting it and not Buzz - oh well.

My first instinct on Phil was, "no worries" as he is pretty low on the radar screen, but then I remembered that it was Ellinger who was coaching RSL....

Why wasn't GBandi left unprotected? Why was Matt left unprotected - unless the don't think he will be takent....?

    Scott and Toni were expected.

    Why not Eric?

Curious - anyone know these folks contract status?

Trade JK09 without telling us? Benhke and Salyer but not Gbandi and Quill?

I'm about to go Crew fan on Andrulis with this management.

I'm sure he could get a job making more money with his degree in Politics from Princeton.

Think Buzz reported once that he was in the process of applying to law school.

This still annoys me. I'd rather keep him than Jolley.

This makes no sense to me....you keep a lazy underachieving guy that never recovered from a series of injuries and a locker room cancer, and expose two of the hardest working team player guys you have on the team...

Maybe it's the not so final list???

Yeah but not if he isn't planning on being around next year.

Kreis may have asked to be traded.

Behnke may have been going to law school all along.

Some fool may be willing to trade for Quill.

    I'm patiently awaiting Buzz's comments.

Well, let's wait long enough to hear it from either the team or Buzz - not that I really question Matchnight, but if they are not going through Buzz, they are using unusual channels of information.

But as I said above, if this list is accurate, I am curious too as to why GBandi and Eric are not on the list - unless they are involved in a trade with DC (the other team who hasn't released their list yet.)

If so - all I know is that if Dema is traded here, they can kiss my season tickets goodbye. I am not joking. (No, I don't think they are that stupid - I just want to be clear.)

I would love for this list to be wrong. I think leaving Behncke unprotected is a huge mistake.

I can say that I am not that all surprised by this list. I don't see anyone taking Pareja because of his age and I could see him to retiring to become assistant coach before next season but waited to announce this so the team could keep another player.

Just to be clear - I don't suspect that will happen. I am just wanted to make sure that the Brain Trust knows that if they have a huge brain fart, they will lose season ticket holders.

I could only imagine what kinds of havoc would be unleashed @ ULHOWA if that happened next season. Dema would have to wear a straight jacket on the field (and maybe while he plays to prevent those cheating handballs), the Inferno would be behind a barbed wire fence, and poor ROB's brain would be short-circuiting so badly that smoke would be pouring out of his ears.

Allow me to go teenage girl on y'all for a second: BOBBY IS PROTECTED!!!!! *dances* thank you GOD!! Although I will say he got lucky. Bobby being protected is worth me sitting here in rain-soaked clothing. =-) The Posse lives on!

Kreis got traded. Holy *beep*! We all knew it was going to happen... it just looks so weird to see it officially in print. Best of luck to ya, JK9... may the A-Rod Theory begin!

Maurin is no surprise to me although Oscar, Salyer and especially Behncke are. Nhleko we expected as did we expect with Garlick. Overall not a bad list, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Gbandi and Quill are in the process of being traded.

--- ooh and as a side note? I just realized the other day that my Algebra teacher looks a lot like Dema Kovalenko... shows you that I've definitely been focusing on my classes these last few days...

    Initial reactions:

Garlick - We have one of the strongest GK duos in the League and would hate to see that broken up. Good news is there appears to be a lot of GK on the list so I hope he isn't taken.

Nhleko - I guess they are not going to change the number of SI allowed on a team. That or they are making room for the allocations. I'd be surprised if anyone takes him. Chivas won't because he's not Hispanic and ReAL won't because the Kreis/Nhleko duo has proven not to work.

Pareja - Maybe could go to Chivas, but they say they want a young team so I think he'll be back for next year.

Behncke- I think I'd rather see Jolley and his high salary go. Behncke at least knows which net to put the ball into.

Maurin - No brainer. Nobody has seen him so he should not be picked up.

Salyer - Surprised by this as well. Would have thought that his previous playing time and salary would have kept him around. Maybe he'll be the first one pulled back.

Official from the FC Dallas website:

Goalkeeper Scott Garlick, defender Matt Behncke, midfielder Ty Maurin, forward Toni Nhleko, midfielder Oscar Pareja and defender Philip Salyer are available for Real Salt Lake and CD Chivas USA."

On Scott - I'd rather have the cap space to afford bigger names.

On Toni - why go for better players and leave him on the roster? Both for the SI spot and the cap space, move him.

The number of SI slots IS going up next season, from 3 to 4. However, I think every team HAD to expose one SI in the exp. draft....Toni is the obvious choice for us.

Hi. Chris Gbandi apologist back to throw in his two cents...

You guys were absolutely murdered down the left flank once Gbandi was taken out of the lineup down the stretch. Absolutely murdered. Benching him was the worst decision Clarke made in the last month of the season, and it ended up costing you a playoff spot.

GE has said that there were some players that asked to be on the list..could Salyer have made this request?

Well, we weren't exactly stellar on the left side with Gbandi in there either. And the bigger issue was we weren't scoring at all as a team. Gbandi was questionable defensively and completely useless on offense. So, Clarke went with Milton Reyes who, while not necessarily the most solid defender, at least brought something to the attack. Would having Gbandi as LB have gotten us into the playoffs?? I really don't think you can make that statement with ANY degree of certainty. Meanwhile, we needed to try something else on the left before giving up altogether.
