http://www.cfcnet.co.uk/2008/02/12/di-santo-inspires-chelsea/ nice article from the Fulham game Jimmy Smith vs Eddie Johnson eh? Should drive the YA lot to suicide.
Whatever became of him? I remember him being that he had potential then he just slipped off the radar.
I assume we are talking about J. Smith. Spent last season with QPR and did not see the field a lot. Was supposed to be loaned to Norwich but suffered an injury and missed/did not end up on loan. Has turned out a few times as a sub, has to be less than 5 I think. Looks like a lightweight mix of J. Cole and Lampard. Probably will end up playing in the Champs, Lge 1.
I see. Right now the question is who do we get rid of, who do we keep, and who's on the fence? We definitely keep Stoch.
Harry Worley has apparently not been offered a new contract. Pettigrew, Grant, Younghusband, Simmonds, Cummings and perhaps J.Smith & the portuguese lads (fernandes+ferreira) would be on the outs. several very good players will be coming up from the U16 team.
adri and okocha are some of the best sources for insight when it comes to the youngsters. Sorry I cant be more helpful atm.
Update: England U17s won the Algarve Tourny: Games: Eng 3 denmark 0, Eng 2 france 0, England 0 portugal 0. Chelsea players Involved: Frank Nouble (1 start 2 subs) Jaccob Mellis (2 starts 1 goal) ___ Billy Knott & Joshua McEachran have been called up to the England U16 squad to face holland on the 20th. Rhys Taylor was an unused sub for Wales U21.
Didnt Jimmy have a goal scoring run with one of those clubs? Cant remember when or who but remember seeing the goals, quite a few crackers
He had a very good start to the season for QPR, but tanked after january (also involved in a brawl with the chinese olympic team).

From the Huddersfield match program ...Sam Hutchinson's had a bad injury but is nearly fit and he had a very good pre-season tour with the first team. nothing else is know.
Re: The Newer Chelsea Youth & Reserves Thread 2 goals by Kakuta already inside 30 minutes. Could have been more. The youth team play some really intricate stuff. If Kakuta is not fast tracked into the first team then I'll be suprised. He doesn't look a player that needs a loan. He seems to get better based on the players he trains and plays with. Next season the Carling Cup should be used to blood a few more of the youth players. Kakuta is so exciting to watch as is Stoch and Tejera.
Re: The Newer Chelsea Youth & Reserves Thread Okocha, where do you see Kakuta fitting in, with regards to his position and role?
Re: The Newer Chelsea Youth & Reserves Thread He's a bit like David Silva at Valencia, he can play outwide or as an AM. In our current setup though he is a winger. He really is a big talent. Really a top talent for his age (16). I thought Stoch was on fire as well. Tejera plays a bit like Guti but the prem has toughened him up a bit. I thought he'd fallen off earlier in the season, but he seems to be back. Mellis plays like Jermaine Jenas, great athlete with good technique. Woods is a calm distributor midfield linker, a bit of a Scholesy type but really is only playing with 70% of his game. Forgot Nouble who has been good plays as a winger even though he is 6'4". Really good close control and 1 v 1 for his height. Honestly with the 7 player subs bench next season I expect at least 1 or 2 young players amongst the substitutions. EDIT: I'm really quite suprised we got a player like Kakuta. Stylistically he is a Arsenal type player. In fact if Arsene had him I wouldn't be surprised if he got a few minutes in some of the Carling Cup matches. Physically he is strong but he can do with a lot more bulking up. Really lucky to get this player.
