Dude, what the hell is wrong with you? Don't you know that this thread should've been named "Banter & Predictions :: (un)Official DC United vs NY/NJ MetroStars PRE Match Thread?"

    :D

So your a big bad mod change it!

I thought Gros was pretty impressive last night, do you think he wil get the start over Demo??
    Metros Probable Lineup
    ST-John Wolyniec
    ST-Mike Magee/Fabian Taylor
    RM- Joselito Vaca
    CAM-Amado Guevara
    LM-Eddie Gaven
CDM-Rico Clark if fully fit, If not it will be Mark Lisi
    CB-Eddie Pope
    CB-Teneywa Bonseau
    RB-Criag Ziadie
    LB-Chris Leitch

My match prediction Metros 3 and DC Utd. 2(only if Freddy gets the goals-he is going to be amazing!)

Can't change it here. I'm not a mod in this forum. But Knave will "fix" it.

    BTW, forza Roma.

Shouldn't it be "Banter & Predictions :: (un)Official DC United vs MetroStars PRE Match Thread?" They haven't been NY/NJ in ages ... ;)

They are in the Goff article. I love it when we can give stick to a team just by calling them by their name. Not to mention the "Metro" part not having to do with the NY/NJ "metro" area but Kluge's companies.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I see no reason to take Carroll out of the starting 11. If anyone sits for Dema, it's Gros.

I say go with the same starting line-up as last week. If the Metrostars start playing rough and tumble, bring in Dema for some added kick. But to be honest, I've been really impressed with every position, except for maybe the keeper slot so far this season. Convey hasn't impressed me all to much either, but I've attributed that (maybe mistakenly) to the fact he missed preseason. But everyone... hell, the team looks like they're getting better and better. If they could only put the ball in the back of the net now!

I say we go back to the Opening Day lineup unless injuries cause changes. While I agree that Gros was impressive for the second half, he did very little the first half and as someone pointed out before the game, he is completely right footed. That seemed to catch Albright by surprise as he busted towards the middle of the field but now that the Metrodonkeys have seen that on film, they will try to force him to the outside. I want Dema in the kicking the crap out of Guevera for 90 minutes.

While this group of players gets my endorsement, the general idea for Gros is to play left midfield (more or less). Stewart can remain on the right wing.

Hence, I suggest the following general formation:

    --------------Warren------------
    ------Namoff--Petke--Nelsen-----
    ---------------Carrol------------
    -Stewart------Olsen-------Gros--
    --------------Convey------------
    -------Moreno------Eskandarian--

The only reason that I want to point this out is because a 3-5-2, to me, makes less tactical sense without two wide midfielders, more or less, hugging the lines.

    Cheers,
    Tim

I like Dema as a sub for two reasons.
First, to remind him that stupid retaliations which end up costing the team will not be tolerated.
But Second, and more importantly, as a psychological tactic vs the scum. First menacing tackle we see on the pitch, I wanna HEAR (intense primal scream or something) Dema getting up to warm up, whether he's subbing in or not. A little gamesmanship with having the offended DC teammate looking benchside would help sell the intensity. (something like, "you really messed up dude," or "ooh, you're gonna get it now.")
Team's got a decidely new attitude, a no nonsense approach. I'd like maybe to see this small exception made with respect to our hated rivals, ie "We play a class game that can be above your heads, but if you wanna play rough, we can crack your skulls in a heartbeat too."
Although Dema's gotta pass some sorta test in discretion with regard to fouling, so we don't end up like having let loose a disgruntled elementary school kid at recess.

Seriously though, I like our options going in, hopefully last weeks nicks and bruises end up being minor. I expect there to be some heated contest over the keeper slot, given Nick's shaky performances. Hopefully Nowak's rule sticks about best XI getting out there.
With that in mind, I offer:
    Warren/Rimando
    Petke --Nelson-- Namoff
    Carroll-- Gros/Dema
    Stewart--Olsen-- Convey
    Eskandarian/Cerritos --Moreno/Adu

bold names getting subbed respectively, with Stokes getting an outside chance to give us added height late if it's close, especially if Freddy is brought on prior.
One thing you gotta love, we have a great balance at each level of the field- def, mid, and forwards- with measured youth and experience. I think that will continue to pay us dividends and help keep us near the top this season.

Every DCU coach is judged by his performance against the MetroMutts. This is Nowak's ultimate measuring stick (tongue-in-cheek). Let's see how he does. ;)

I like this lineup. It tweaks the lineup a little, but it ain't broke. Don't fix it.

Now who to bring as subs: Rimando is along, but you need to select four out of

    Cerritos
    Adu
    Prideaux
    Stokes
    Dema

I'd leave Stokes behind on this one, but that leaves Prideaux as the only reserve defender.

I think Dema begins the match on the bench simply for disciplinary reasons. Nowak was pissed at him for that bit of handbags in the opener.

same lineup as opening day. Gros did well, but let's not pproclaim him the new king yet.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
It wouldn't surprise me to see Esko and/or Jaime on the bench because of injury.

I like Gros in place of Kovalenko to teach Dema a lesson.

Last year's MVP doesn't need any lessons.

I think sitting Dema would send a huge message to the team.

Nowak has talked about all positions being up for grabs, players need to earn playing time, etc.

I think the fact that last year's MVP needing to earn his way back into the starting XI after serving a suspention for a stupid foul is exactly the kind of message Nowak wants to send.

Dema most certainly needs a lesson, and Nowak has apparently been giving him lessons for quite some time. If he hasn't learned by now ...

We played brilliantly in LA without Dema. I don't see any reason to play him at all against the Metros.

While Dema may benefit from a "lesson" Nowak is paid to win games. I would feel better going against the Metros up there with Dema back in the lineup in place of Gros.

Brilliant ball movement...which got us a 1-1 tie. The few chances LA got, were excellent chances.
