I thought it had been proved that the club badges had to be the same size if United are to win the matches?

I dont know wether I'd prefer keep Anderson on the bench so he could replace one of Rooney/Tevez torwards the end or start him and bring on Scholes later. If Scholes can start this game I would do so. But if he's not ready to start, then...

Park should start over Giggs played 90 on sunday.

I'd expect Pompey to play with Diarra and Mendes in midfield. Diarra is going to let his presence be felt, but Mendes doesnt impress me lately.

    This will be my line-up

    -----------Rooney--------
    ------Tevez--------------
    Park--Scholes--Carrick--Ronaldo
    Evra----Rio----Brown--O'Shea
    ------------VDS--------------

Bench: Koozy, Giggs, Anderson, Nani, Simpson

I am assuming Vidic is still out. Is Saha still hurt BTW?

Very happy to be playing Pompey during the Cup of Nations. It would be brutal playing them with Muntari, Diarra, and Utaka in midfield. Also, I think the cup has definitely affected the chemistry and drive of the team--they haven't looked the same in the last couple of weeks.

Baros is a funny player--no fan of any team he's on likes him, but nobody else wants to face him either. He's prone to fade out of games, be erratic, miss easy chances, but can also be unpredictable, crafty, and score some great goals. With Pompey's defense as strong as it is, this is definitely not a game that I would feel comfortable going down a goal. But barring something special from Barros or something else completely random, I think three points are to be expected.

Diarra is French, and is playing.

Baros is one of those players that just excels with his national team but fails at showing the same form for club. (Yes Czech Republic fan)

Aware of that. Wording was ambiguous, it should have said, 'better to face them with just Diarra than with Diarra, Muntari, and Utaka.'

    Feeling the avatar RoM.

I want Nani to start, a clean sheet and 3 points,

    That is all.

Glad we're facing them without their African contingent. A tad afraid of Baros, due to his ability to turn it on out of nothing, but other than that I'm not too scared.

I'd like Park or Nani to start this one, maybe Simpson or Pique as well. Scholes should be ready for a full game, I'd think, so let him start in midfield with Anderson and see how it goes. Dunno if Saha is fit...

I usually assume that to be the case unless I hear otherwise.

I would like to give Nani more time, see where he is up to. Same for Carrick. I would not like to rush Scholes, minutes off the bench for him. Some minutes for Simpson would be nice too.

Is Vidic able to start? Nothing listed on Physio Room.

Vida was a "virus", so he should hopefully be back up at it.

I read that somewhere too! May it was the Fiver or Football 365 - they were joking that United didn't want to announce the first "camel-related injury" after the jaunt in the desert :D

Saha to be out for another 2 weeks. Hip injury if i can recollect correctly.

Brown is better than O'shea at RB.. Especially when we are facing the likes of Benjani and Baros. I would start O'shea at LB..
Pique should be good for CB.

Well in all truth I'd rather Simpson start at right back but alas, it won't happen. He does wonders for our overlapping play though.

If Vidic is a no-go, then I want Scholes/Carrick... we'll need to hold possession a lot better and screen Pique as much as possible. I'm really pissed at losing Neville for so long, but even more pissed that Simpson has got so little. Maybe he'll get a game against Newcaslte because if he doesn't feature here, he won't for Arsenal or Lyon.
