    Hello all United fans,

I'm a new member here and my reason for joining to update u a little bit about United's training camp and share some stuff with u about DC players since im from south FL and attended FIU game. First of all: I like to say something about stoichkov's attitude.......which is: NASTY and discusty. He didn't join his teammates in signing autographs and never bothered to raise his hand to the crowd when his name was announced on the speakers. He got a big cocky attitude that all of you will notice when the season starts. I'll say to stoickov to take a shower cuz he stink big time. Most of the people i talked with at FIU game said they came just to support FIU and to see stoichkov but the big trash bag didn't show any respect to all those people who came to see him. Anyways, lets move on and forget such garbage...... Mike petke is the fans' favorite and my favorite of all time. He's the man!! I love this guy. He was talking, signing autographs ,taking pix and alot more with the fans unlike stoichkov. He's the nicest MLS player i met so far. The team performance in the game was good but should be alot better. Earnie stewart didn't do anything in the whole game, he touched the ball maybe 6-8 times only but im sure he needs more time to get use to his team-mates style. Etcheverry? still great and still can win a championship for his team but from what i saw in the game..... DC still far away from LA. Last thing i can tell you...... the players having a great time in South Florida from what i heard from most of them and Ray Hudson still the greatest coach, i had a lil chat with him and he told me how much he's missing the 2001 fusion and south florida and said that the fusion 2001 was the best team in MLS history which i totally agree. Again sorry if i wrote a long message but i just want to share some news about dc since u guys are united's fans but BEWARE of stoichkov......he's the cockiest man on earth.
MIKE PETKE: IS the MAN!!!!! Take care of him, United' fans ;)

    Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the information. I am glad you enjoyed teh festivities.

As far as Stoi goes, you are aware that there was the snow storm of the century up here in the nation's capital, so who knows what that may have done to his attitude. I am sure he was a little worried about a lot of things, such as family, etc. For example he drives a Hummer which is a very expensive car. I am sure he worried about his car and whether it was properly taken care of.

Sometimes fans forget that players are people too, and have worries just like everyone else, and certainly bad days like everyone else.

Hopefully his attitude with the fans at that exhibition match was an aberration.

ps-Good to hear that Petke is getting along with the fans.

    Glad to have ya!

Thanks a lot for the report. It's great to see how quickly Mike Petke is becoming a fixture here in the DC United family.

If you don't mind, could you please give us a rundown of the players that stood out in the game? Not that we're uninterested in the fan interaction, that's good too, but we're really really craving to hear about individual players' performances. Like, was Galin Ivanov effective organizing the back line? How did Bryan Namoff play? Was Ryan Nelsen generating any offense? Who were the targets on set pieces, Petke, Nelsen, someone else?

Thanks in advance and welcome aboard!

    Thanks jose and digitial :)

    Digital,
Even though i wasn't too familiar with alot of the faces i saw on the field but i can give u a small summary about the players that got my attention the most. Mike petke like always was the toughest guy in the defense with his hard tackles and before the game started i told my friend that no body is going to pass him but they did ONLY one time. Esko (the rookie) seems with full energy but in my opinion he's going to need more time to get use to the MLS level. I asked him after the game how things going with him and his reply was: "It's tough but im getting use to it and enjoying my time". Etchverry and demo kovalenko were doing a great great job together. I think kovalenko is going to do a great job with United this season. The defense overall was doing a great job and FIU players did only manage twice to pass through them but the big Q

Sorry i clicked submit by mistake. anyways lets keep going......... The big question is: were they that good because they played a small team or the defensive line is just great naturally? We'll get the answer when the season start. Other things i remember is Santino was kind of slow in that game and busy looking at the girls in the stands lol but im not sure if he's over weight or something else. Bobby convey and john harkes came in the 2nd half and did a good job especially john in organizing the defensive line but the crowd was complaining why he's still playing? The only bad thing that happened at the FIU game was Nick Rimando's injury but i don't know how serious his injury is but he couldn't stay in and had to leave the field. Nick is a very nice person and very humble with the fans. That's all i can remember for now if u got more question i'll be glad to answer. Hopefully i'll try to catch another scrimmage for the team before they leave because their training sessions are not open for public which is: SUCKS!!
Yabo, Your post and a person like u don't deserve a reply. Hit back the road ;)

    Thanks BB!

Did United attack through the air at all? Was anyone particularly noticable heading the ball? Who were the targets for headers?

    Digital,
To be honest with u FIU won the air battle cuz they had 3 defenders that were at least 6 feet tall and had 3 midfielders that are pretty tall too that won most of the balls in the air. That was the only thing FIU managed to do good at. But mike petke was unbeatable in the air.......he won almost every air battle that i saw and scored a goal off a header. The thing was that united didn't take the game very seriously so i didn't pay that much attention to the game because it wasn't a big deal. I was just glad to see all these MLS players back in south florida since the fusion's last game.

Thanks again BB. I was guessing that Petke, Nelsen and Ivanov would be the primary targets, as all of our forwards are small.

Hey, The next scrimmage im going to watch for united i will pay full attention to ivanov and try my best to get the best possible information of his game and level. The crapy thing about the training camp that it's not open for public which is sucks for us soccer fans here in south florida but hopefully the LA galaxy and the other teams will open their training sessions for public to watch just like how the NFL teams do.

BB, are people alowed to take personal video cameras into the training camp? I know there are plenty of anxious hooligans up here who would be pretty thankful if you could tape the next scrimmage. If not, maybe some photo's of the guys playing.
Thanks for the Info. And welcome to BS.

    Hey Baller

Here's an idea...try going back to school so you can learn proper English. Reading your postings is like listening to a hilljack from Kentucky. You have a passion for the game but you should really take a little more pride in your writtings. And also, Stoyo is a stud. Has been and always will be. How many former world footballer's of the year stop to hang out with fans at a match? Give him a break.

    WOW

Soccer puppet.....Jackass!!!??? Thanks for the heartfelt welcome. I would suggest that you take look at his posts. He does struggle with his language skills. As far as being a soccer puppet - doubtful. As far as being called a jackass - all the time. You see people don't like people that point out the truths. Long live the mad Bulgarian and the United boys!! I look forward to watching them in early March and through out the season.
    And thanks for the welcome....butthead

    Let me rephrase my statement:

It is impolite to criticize someone who may not have a complete grasp of written English. As someone who practices what he preaches, I will refrain from criticizing your tenuous grasp of the language.

    Signed,

    Butthead.

Nothing annoys me more than folks who rip on the grammar of others when they can't spell either. What the hell is a "writting"?

Save the anger for Salvadorans who root for the Galaxy and give Baller a break.

Big Baller, thanks for the info. I always thought Tino was fat and slow, so you really made my day!!

    I like it....!!!

Ahh, well done Butthead. I'll refrain from the negatives. I'm just a big time Stochi fan and I don't like the tag the this guy was placing on him. He's going to bring a ton of discipline, not to mention a pro's attitude on how to do things right on the field.
