That does not mean they are equal teams.

Go for it. I would love to see the USMNT Twitterbase put their money where their mouth is.

they are ...each team had 50% possession

uru is better defense usa is better attack...but very equal overall 9for me uruguays attackers are weak for a pot 1 or 2 level squad)

im going off of what i watched.....I dont think ive ever seen such evenly matched teams in my life (even with a uruguayan ref!)

give them a fifa ref that gives yellow cards appropriately and i would pick the usa to win

uruguay will not do much in the 2026 world cup because their overly physical style will be carded out of existence.....they try to pull that kicking the opponent on purpose crap against an actual blue blood team and they will be playing down a man or two

Exactly. The only great player we have is Christian Pulisic. The others are just good, or not even.

Uruguay had a game plan and found a way to grit their way to victory. They have been doing that for many, many decades. Do not let possession or anything else fool you.
Uruguay is at a higher level and have been for many months now.

Uruguay won the duels. I have always been impressed by their intensity and as you say, it goes back for a long, long time. I thought the US showed good intensity but Uruguay has a saviness in how they do it that is just better and seems to be an important part of their culture as a footballing nation.

    i mean...they got a fake goal by cheating refs....it was a 0-0 tie.

credit to urugauy....they play collectively better than the us...i think the us has better individual talents, though

the us sucks at the cooperative, collective element of the sport....its a genetic problem fr the usa

This whole individual talent and golden generation type of convo has to stop right now.
Defense and Keeper are way below the top teams in Europe and South America.

If I had a quarter for each time Colombia would look better with possession and with pace and tempo and looking more dangerous...

...only for Uruguay to find a way to win on some counter, or Set Piece, or Penalty... ...I would be a very rich man.

It is what they traditionally do get results. USA was just another team to fall into their trap.
