Uruguay XI Goalkeeper: Rochet - Starting keeper for Internacional in Brazil. Does have a little European experience with AZ in Holland and Sivasspor in Turkey, but he's been in South America since 2019. Left Back: Vina - Started the 2021-22 Season as a starter for Roma but got benched midseason and never gained it back. He spend the next 2 seasons on loan with unsuccessful spells at Bournemouth and Sassulo in Italy and has now moved to Flamengo in Brazil. LCB: Olivera - Left Back turned CB for this tournament. Played at Napoli this year where he did miss 2 months with an injury midseason but has generally started when healthy RCB: Araujo - Starting CB and even occasional captain for a club in Eastern Spain called FC Barcelona I believe Right Back: Nandez - Played 141 games in Italy across Serie A and Serie B for Cagliari. Just announced a month ago that he's moving to Saudi Arabia LCM: de la Cruz - 27 year old who spent 6 seasons with South American Giants River Plate before moving to Flamengo in Brazil earlier this year DM: Ugarte - Move to PSG from Sporting CP in Portugal this season. He spent most of the year as a starter for PSG, but did spend a decent amount of time on the bench later in the season. RCM: Valverde - Played nearly every minute for Real Madrid in their La Liga/Champions League winning season Left Wing: Araujo - 24 year old who's been in Mexico since 2020. First with Puebla, now Toluca Right Wing: Pellistri: 22 year old Manchester United man who got a little bit of time off the bench early in the year but was ultimately loaned out to Granada midseason where he instantly became a starter. He got a goal and an assist in his second game but cooled down very quickly .Only getting a single goal and assist for the rest of the year Striker: Nunez - Hasn't quite been as electric as Liverpool fans were hoping but he did have a better 2nd season with them, scoring 11 goals. No problems at the National Team level though as he has goals in 7 straight games for Uruguay (10 goals in that span). No Uruguay has scored in 8 straight since the 1920s
I really hope Berhalter has something special up his sleeve today. And the guys need to come out hot and bothered and not stop for 90 minutes.
Love our team win or lose.. but win would be really, incredibly nice.. mark me down for own goal.. not sure if Omar Gonzales level but in a match like this
I’m predicting, we come out hot, get an early-ish goal, Uruguay equalize before the half, and then they score in the 80th minute for the win. Then, Panama gets a late result against Bolivia. Be prepared for heartbreak.
That’s the best lineup we have right now. Hopefully Yunus Musah will be ready to plow a trench up his side of the field.
A win tonight would honestly be Berhalter’s best performance in 5 and a half years. And yet; a win might not even be enough. Goes to show that we have to stop this trend of always having at least one bad result in every camp.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...occer-team-2016-copa-america-roster-announced That roster above got to the semifinal in 2016. If the current roster can't get out of the group they will likely go down as the Fool's Golden Generation.
That's why I qualified it with likely. But you really think we'll top 2002 in 2026? I'd be stunned at this point. Our golden generation, as far as I'm concerned, consisted of Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley, Clint Dempsey, and some other talented players who actually gave a damn.
