Looks like a 3-5-2 for Morocco Goalkeeper: One of the best in La Liga. Won the Zamora Trophy, which goes to the keeper with the lowest goals per game ratio Center Backs: Saiss was at Wolves this past season (though he just announced he's leaving) where he started 31 games. Aguerd started every single game for Rennes in Ligue 1 when he was available. He's rumored to be headed to West Ham. Mmaee was a starter for The Hungarian Champions Left Back: Masina began the season as Watford's starter but spent most of it on the bench in the 2nd half of the season, at one point he went 4 1/2 months without getting a single Premier League minute Right Back: Hakimi is one of the best right backs in the world, he played nearly every game for PSG when he was available. Mids: Amrabat played plenty for Fiorentina this past season, but mostly did so off the bench. Ounahi played in nearly all of Angers matches this season in Ligue 1, though only started about half of them. Taarabt played in most of Benfica's matches this season, but primarily came off the bench Forwards: Tissoudali who started nearly every match for Gent in Belgium this year when he was available. El Kaabi was the 2nd leading goalscorer in Turkey this season, putting up 18 in 32 matches (Haji had 14)
I would like Berhalter tries Pulisic as Central Forward at least for 45 minutes in one of the upcoming two friendly games. Lack of having a natural goal scorer in central forward position can be problematic in bigger games sometimes. I hope Berhalter rotates the lineup for upcoming two friendly games.
Do we really need to see Aaronson as an 8? Have we not been down this road before and it didn’t workout?
Curious about Aaronson being an 8. Wes's minutes are being limited, Roldan only arrived to camp yesterday, and Djorje got hurt. That still doesn't explain why he's starting ahead of Luca, unless him getting relegated really dropped him in Gregg's eyes
Good lineup and should be a great test for our boys. Morocco has Amine Harit on their bench. He is still on Schalke's books and was pre-COVID considered one of the top attacking midfielders in the BuLi. Just finished up a loan at Marseille where he finished quite strong and has transfer interests.
Given Aaronson's 3 lung work-rate, I think even for club he is looked at as a box to box CM instead of a dedicated wide attacker.
I mean, I'm hopeful this is just a let's see what we have in Aaronson at the 8 now type moments. Otherwise, it's weird. The good news is he is a better passer than Acosta and offers a similar work rate which i suppose is what drew Gregg. Also not big on Long, I don't really like his game as much as others but that's just personal opinion. Overall an okay lineup, about what was expected. Should be a good game. Looking for good transitions, clean build up and see if Turner is back up. My guess is a lackluster 1-1 draw with both teams content to use this as a warm up. But who knows. One thing I don't want to see is good substitutes from Gregg, that area has to be better.
I was about to say the same thing. I hope Tillman gets at least a few minutes playing time in second half.
Someone remind me to post a quote from my buddy who played with Gregg. It would get lost in the shuffle of this PBP thread, but it’s f@cking spot on hilarious.
Wearing the rainbow numbers against a country where being gay is punishable by up to 5 years in prison. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Morocco, but I like it nonetheless
Gotta love the kid in front of Brendan Aaronson who gave the sign of the cross after the anthem ended and tried to get the kid next to him to do it too. Aaronson saw it and chuckled. Little kids are funny!
