I really get tired of talking trash about Berhalter, but the notion that Letgett and Long are top players that start every game even with our European contingent available is completely absurd by any objective measure of talent. Acosta is a head scratcher as well. And now after we thrash a Jamaican b team it will be proof he was right.

Why is Richards not starting? FFS. It's time to get started on the Richards and Brooks partnership.

is Acosta and Lletget the best we have in those positions, out of those who are in this camp?

Bummed to not see Aaronson start. The fact that Kelyn Acosta is starting a game in 2021 is mildly amusing, but I understand that's due to the options available.

I hope Richards gets a decent look this camp, instead of just the small cameo that he got in November. I really want him to get a full 90 for Northern Ireland

Wow that's a pretty brutal lineup, I wonder if this was truly the "first choice XI" from this group or if he's trying to balance the toss-ups between this match and the next match. Long starting is by far the most brutal....our CBs need to get as many minutes/reps together as possible. I'm not excited about Musah/Acostah/Lleget in the middle of the park; that said, my guess is he has Adams/McKennie in those slots and doesn't want to move Reyna/Pulisic back as he's projecting them into the positions they're playing in this lineup.

I'm pissed looking at this lineup.

So Long is better than a starter for Hoffenheim? Lletget isn't and wasn't better than Aaronson as shown when they played in the same league

it's just stupid. I don't understand using friendlies as anything but dress rehearsals at this point. It's time to stop expirmenting. There is ZERO chance that if healthy, the CB partnership throughout qualifying and god bless the creek don't rise, during the WC, isn't Richards/Brooks.

Time to get those guys some chemistry, not throwing Long a bone for being a good soldier or some shit.

I do think Richards is going to leap frog Long very soon (he may already have), but you're acting as if NYRB didn't block Long from pursuing European suitors.

The Long selection is by far the most painful in this lineup. Lleget/Acosta are obviously starting due to clear lock starters not being in camp, although I would've preferred experimentation with other formations/players in those roles.

There is zero chance Long/Brooks is the pairing in WCQ (at least I hope that's the case) -- what is the point of playing them together right now? I probably have Long as the 5th/6th best RCB option in the pool and we're throwing him a start in one of the only tune ups we've got. It's such a waste.

I would bet money that the 2 of them are at the top Gregg's depth chart and will be starting the nations league games

i expected Lletget to play but Acosta?

This shows when a coach has tunnel vision for some players.

And I'm done complaining for now. Let's watch that front three work together. That line alone makes this game worth watching.

Agree with pretty much everyone - Long should not be a starter, Richards is much better. We’ve already seen too much of Long, no reason to keep running him out there.

Also Lleget is a bench player at best

From a practical standpoint this lineup is stupid on it's face... we need to start putting together players chemistry wise that will give us the best chance in qualifying... and this ain't it.

Berhalter is a clown so I guess this #$%& is to be expected.
