I would even take Danny Cruz over Danny Williams at this point...its like Klinsmann is trying to play some joke on us
I'd like to see him against competition that's better. For now, this means nothing to me. I was hoping we could see some of it soon. I hope we still can!
When the hell did I mention Azteca? I was stoked about that game. Still doesn't change the fact that we have VERY FEW WINGERS. Jamaica has a fast speedy track meet team. Against a team that has a grand total of 2 wingers, that should make us nervous. The result against Mexico has zero to do with that.
I think this team is going to drop the game at Jamaica. Let me tell you why. Obviously its a big loss to be without Donovan and Bradley. A lot of our attacking prowess from the midfield is now gone. We still have Dempsey, but how can we rely on a guy that hasn't played a competitive match since June? Our defense is still pretty slow. Bocanegra and Cherundolo are going to have trouble with these quick Jamaican attackers. I foresee the game going like this. A lot of nothing for most of the game, Jamaica scores a goal around the 60th minute by just pure speed beating Bocanegra, we really don't have a response since the team we brought in has no attacking ability.
Lets put it this way, the longer you keep a match at 0-0, on the road, and the underdog you leave your chance to steal a match. So yeah Williams did contribute quite a bit to that win.
I would still like to see him at DM. But based on that roster, against to RM. Or, we throw Gatt into the deep end. Knowing Klinsmann, doubt it.
25 players in general seems like too many. I can understand bringing backup field players since Dempsey and Edu may not be ready to play, but 4 goalkeepers is unnecessary. Perhaps the Gatt issue caused Klinsmann to make a late addition of 1 of these extra field players?
I'd like to see: -------------Altidore----- ------Dempsey-----Gomez Shea--------Jones-------Gatt/Carona Johnson--Edu--Cameron---Cherundolo ** Shea and Gatt/Carona need to get up/down the flanks all game to be wingers. Dempsey and Gomez as inside forwards.
Ives Galarcep @SoccerByIves Josh Gatt forced to withdraw from the USMNT call-up due to a hamstring injury. This won't be his last call-up, you can bet on that.
Lichaj just broke onto villa's starting line up so i understand not calling him up. Our hopes for the future at RB rests on his shoulders as of now. Im over chandler for 2 reasons. 1. I want commited players 2. He plays a position where we could find cover. Its not as devistating as losing a talented attacking fwd/mid like rossi
------------Jozy----------------- ------Dempsey---------Gomez- --------Torres------Jones------- ------------Beckerman---------- --Johnson----------------Dolo-- ----------Boca----Cameron----- -------------Howard------------- Maybe Edu in for one of Torres or Beckerman
This is easy to solve if you start Shea on the left and Gatt/Carona on the right. You have to ask a lot of them- they go up as traditional wingers on offense, but get back on defense.
Well, no Gatt. So, we have 1 winger left, Brek Shea. Corona and Gomez - both play RM, are not wingers. Suspect with Gatt gone it'll be the Danny Williams show out right.
Don't think there was ever much daylight between us on the the Chandler issue. I reserved my opinion at the Gold Cup, but his next refusual closed my book on him. If he shows up on our radar, let alone our field, I will give him thought again.
