Nice gesture. It's good to see quotes from him with out the "expletive deleteds"...by the way did anyone else catch Wally Bruckner on Ch. 4 the other day say that Hudson is the best coach for quotes/interviews in DC?
That's nice ... ... but that doesn't read at all like it was written by Ray Hudson. Not saying he didn't write it. Just saying that doesn't strike me as what I'd expect him to say or how I'd expect him to say it.
I was thinking the exact same thing. For example. the pitch to renew season tickets at the end was worded very differently from what I'd expect from Ray.
I think it mainly sounds like him up until the last paragraph. That was obviously from the marketing department.
I appreciated the gesture. Although I expect that the marketing department had planned some sort of end of the year letter I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ray who suggested that he write it. He could have just buried his head after this season, but it indicates to me that he's taking his share of the responsibility and that the basically garanteeing a better year next year. I can handle that.
It doesn't sound like him, without the bloody hells and f***. But Ray makes a point to discuss the great DCU fans every chance he gets (on ESPN, radio, etc)
That is a very nice gesture from Ray and aside from the ticket renewal bit, I think it was all Hudson. I hope you folks appreciate what kind of coach you have at DCU. Next season will be a totally different story for the boys in black. Fortunately for the league, there are five strong coaches (Gansler, Schmid, Bradley Yallop, and Hudson) and you support a team that has one of them. Best luck to Ray and DCU in 2003.
Actually, Ray has said many times that his role and that of players in MLS goes beyond the "typical" roles in soccer. He's said they must be ambassadors and marketers of the sport. So it would not surprise me if he included the season ticket info because the communications and sales people asked him to... Anyway, I got this via e-mail and thought it was interesting. Would have preferred a trip to Foxboro in October but alas that was not to be...
