What a fantastic finish by Forlan. I'm glad I got up early to watch this one. Who would have thought that the late subs - Forlan & Veron - would contribute that much to winning this one? And Chelsea are but a bunch of foreign mercenaries. Even the token Englishman Le Saux has a froggy name.

Oh please. No need for conspiracy theories. Chelsea's a good side, but not a Championship caliber one. If they were, they would've found a way to win this match, like United did.

Just got back from a weekend away, and watched the game on tape. F*** YES!!!! That's what I was screaming when Diego's winner went in!! My family now has confirmed that I am insane. Comes with being a United fan, though. Some thoughts on the game: -After two great saves by Cudicini, Ole hitting the post and a missed golden opportunity by Keano (c'mon Roy, just side foot that thing in the corner), I thought United had used up their chances and were destined for a draw. This victory brings back memories of '98-'99. Hopefully, this will revive the "never say die" attitiude that was so prevalent during the Treble run. -Diego and Seba were both late subs - nice job, Alex. (Kind of like subbing in Teddy and Ole against Bayern. ) I was surprised that Seba didn't come on earlier, considering Alex had publicly declared that anything short of victory would be unacceptable. -What a crappy pitch. It hurt the flow of the game for both teams. -I haven't seen United give the ball away so many times in a long while. Not much flow to their attack for most of the game. -This was a vital win. A draw would have put United 7 points behind Arsenal. And unfortunately, the Gunners don't seem to be in the mood to drop many right now. -For all the people that complain that United get all the calls, please note that it was a clear handball in the box on Melchiot. There have been quite a few call like this recently that have gone against United.
IMHO Alex was merely putting things right with his second half substitutions. His starting team, with a dubious left back (Phil Neville) in centre midfield (sure he had a great match there - ONCE!) and Butt, Veron and Giggs available was a bad decision. Also including Solskjaer at left midfield with Giggs fit was bad. With Scholes playing forward with his back to goal - nowhere near the player he is in central midfield these days - the midfield was a mess. And then RvN up front on his own against the best defence in the league. It all added up to a poor first half performance. Then he "saw the light", replaced Neville with Giggs, put him on the left and moved Solskjaer where he should be - up front - it was a different team. When Alex will realise his best formation is 4-4-2 with balance from Giggs and Beckham out wide I just don't know. Time after time this season and last he's had to revert to 4-4-2 from 4-4-1-1 to pull a game out of the fire.
I'm pretty sure there was even more injury time than 3, like 4 minutes if you don't count the celebrations. Thats why SAF was laughing and calling the ref a bastard Phil Neville didn't have his best game, but by injuring Hasselbaink he did us a big favour Overall i thought, apart from some terrible errors in the first half, we played quite well. was disapointted with RvN though, would love to see him get premiership golden boot but it doesn't look like it'll happen. Scholes and Beckham were great though, keano wasn't dominating but he was doing well, and Giggs' performance was a bit encouraging. I think we need to improve our passing for the Southhampton game, even if Liverpool beat them (how the ************?). I agree though since Chelsea have the best defense in the league by far we should've had two strikers up front (maybe van Nistelrooy and Forlan). I was also worried we were playing shitloads of long balls and losing a lot of headers Overall we deserved to win, both teams were equals (Chelsea fans will point to the fact they had more corners, but that just means they're crap finishers ), but both our goals were quality, as was Gudjohnsen's finish, and thats all that matters really.

The amount may change depending on whether or not UEFA implement their plan about restricting the number of players that are not national to the league they are playing in.It will happen eventually i think, although it probably won't be as severe a restriction as the Italians had. As far as any of us that are from England are concerned the likes of Keane et al are foreign as well, a fact that UEFA will back up if aforementioned plan is ever implemented. I have no problem with "foreigners" playing in the EPL, clanblue, I believe they've improved the quality enormously. But a Chelsea fan accusing Man Utd of importing quality players has me thinking about kettles and pots and "br'nt arses"
