It's probably not related to the Kenae saga but Dick Advocaat has said this morning that he will no longer take fergusons concerns into consideration regarding Van Nistlerooy and friendlies. He agreed to play him for just 45 mins last night but is furious that Veron played for 60 mins. Hopefully other international managers will follow suit.

This sort of stuff could get nasty. Does any know what the protocol is with FIFA regarding friendlies?

What happens if Advocaat plays Van Nistelroy for 90 minutes? Does Fergie not release him for the next friendly? Or will he make up some bogus injury?

There was a rather nasty case last year with the USA and Eddie Lewis who at the time was with Fulham. He was selected to the World Cup squad and all the WC players started training camp around May 1. Lewis had not played a first team game all year for Fulham but Tigana refused to release him. They were sitting mid table and ended up playing the last game of the season around the 12th. It would be equivalent of O'Neill keeping Healy back from international training in May just so that he could play the last league game of the season...

There doesn't seem to be the same problems over here with German clubs releasing players, well not to the same extent that we're seeming in the English league now. Maybe that's because there are not quite as many internationals playing here. Or maybe its because German clubs play far fewer games than those in England.
