From the Philadelphia Inquirer: The Union announced Wednesday evening that one of their players has tested positive for the coronavirus. It’s the first known case of a player contracting the virus in Major League Soccer. A statement from the team said the player, who was not named, “experienced mild symptoms and is feeling well and in good spirits,” and is “observing appropriate isolation protocols.” The Union have been working with officials in the Crozer-Keystone Health System to treat him. A team spokesperson further said that the player would like to keep his identity private. https://www.inquirer.com/health/cor...lphia-union-major-league-soccer-20200401.html
Worth noting: the Philadelphia Union have not laid off any employees, haven't furloughed any employees or even asked them to take pay cuts. They also quickly set up a fund to benefit game day workers and stadium staff, many of whom hail from the surrounding neighborhood. #DOOP— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) April 9, 2020 Bet no one saw this.....
I guess this makes up for running out of hot dogs on dollar dog night but it will take way more than that to make up for trading le toux back in the day for a sack of balls.
Nice to see my season ticket money going to something good since I'm not getting much out of it right now. Hope they are able to keep it up for as long as it takes to get back to opening the park.
Considering they already balked at that date and just the general way things are going and all the logistics involved I wouldn't bet on anything before July. Anyway here is my suggestion for our alternate corona virus kit: If you splurge for the higher quality Authentic version with working respirator it can protect you as well whenever we finally get back to going to games again.

I'm also going under the assumption that there will be no MLS this year. There might also be no college football. Which would ruin my universe, basically.
FWIW, 99% of ADs think there will be some college football. When asked about soccer, the AD’s said “is that a sport?”. Until it becomes physically impossible, I would hope MLS will worst case do some kind of fall madness tournament. Normally nobody would suggest playing two games a week repeatedly but they could play some two leg series to eliminate half the teams and keep doing that until they get to the “Final Four” tournament - which should be in Miami but for some reason will be played outdoors, on turf in the snow.

I am watching Bundesliga. It seems to me that some company needs to get the MLS or Union Mask naming rights when soccer returns. A company could provide masks to everyone and slap their logo right in the middle.
Updates from Tannenwald on practice in Delaware and whereabouts of some union players (Gaddis, Collin and Martinez not in the local area right now apparently) Union start individual player workouts as wait to resume MLS season continues https://www.inquirer.com/soccer/cor...ls-practice-wilmington-delaware-20200518.html
We are in the weird six team group with NYCFC, Orlando, Nashville, Miami, and Chicago, but we only only play Nashville, Miami, and NYC. For some reason, only two teams advance from this group. However, the top four third place teams also advance.
After all that has gone on this spring, I am actually looking forward to this - regardless of the format or the lack of fans.
Union might do okay against 2 expansion sides and NYCFC on a regulation sized field (though Garber might make them play width-wise to give NYC a "home" feel). Wondering who really kept up on fitness and who just posted workout videos to make it appear they worked out.
