Totally agree. Between Rais and BJ Callaghan, I'll always choose BJ.

What does this even mean? When Rais is available he is going to play every game next year, so he is going to coach himself? Are we going to pay him more for that?

I hope it's another in the long line of lame Union-GK jokes ...

I thought it meant he will not be playing, he will be coaching.

I'm assuming it's totally made up. But still funny if there is any truth to it.

The funniest part is that we have to stop and think if it is true.

He could sign as a player/coach. Load the heavy end of his salary on the coaching side and have him count a lot less against the cap? I know LAG has done this before.

Didn't the Union do this last year in an attempt to have the league cover coaching costs?

    I know it was a running joke...but maybe it's a Union "thing."

I'm pretty sure we were doing the opposite with Albright, like you said. He was a "player" so he was paid by the league. Pretty smart actually. Who said Nicky Sak can't play hardball?!

There is a mechanism for teams to do this, but traditionally I think they only allow it with players they expect or know will retire soon. I believe LA was allowed to do it with Berhalter the year he retired, but not in prior years.

Trade deadline / roster freeze is today. I wonder if we make any moves? I am doubtful.

This is usually the time of year they bring in a few Harrisburg players but they're still in the USL playoffs so who knows.
