Typekits? So there is a company that makes football kits based off of fonts? That is literally the dorkiest thing I've ever seen in my lifetime. The people on Reddit r/mls are probably going wild over it.
Haha it is dorky but in my exp it seems like a normal thing for someone in the UX/UI cool design crowd to do. I sorta cross paths with that world so thats how I found it. I guarantee it started as a personal portfolio project. r/mls don't seem to know about it and I just lurk over there so I am not going to tell em.
Well this dork got the scarf. High quality and do recommend if you're going for that unique union/not union uncanny valley look. Shipped from Havertown so the influence isn't an accident.
The White "Eastern Conference Champions" T-Shirts are now displaying a message of "Almost Gone!" on Fanatics, FYI. https://www.mlsstore.com/philadelph...8?pageSize=72&sortOption=NewestArrivals&vap=1
They shouldn't bother changing the away kit (though, they will due to league contract). The light blue and yellow have been such a $wag hit. I sincerely hope they do not go back to the cookie-cutter and utterly boring white kits for the aways. Come up with another rendition of the light blue/yellow because it's part of the club's identity.
Can I get some sort of a light blue kit with a center stripe made of lightning bolts? I just want my center stripe back.
When was the last year the Union had a center stripe? I believe they've had more seasons without a center stripe than seasons with it...... IMO the center stripe limits what they can do with their kits. It's why they moved away from it in the first place.
Considering in that time the only "something" they have done that is anything special is the light blue bolty bolts kit I think we can endure a cycle or two of something with a center stripe again. I couldn't find a source of kit sales ranked by team but I imagine our lack of any players in the top 25 probably impacts the flexibility we have when dealing with Adidas. Hopefully the bolty bolts has done well enough that they get more opportunities to do things like that rather than just sticking our colors on whatever templates are offered.
I would imagine the Bethlehem Steel kit was the best selling Union Jersey until the Light Blue for U kit. Of course some will say the Union don't sell many jerseys because of the sponsor they've had for over a decade. I guess some would prefer a sponsor like Advocare or Herbalife...........
Do they still sell the sponsor free versions? Anyway once whomever allowed the sponsor logo/colors to actually match the jerseys style I wonder if it's still a drag on sales.
