STM package just arrived: Medium weight scarf Certificate to be redeemed for tshirt and lanyard Schedule magnet ( not quite as bad as last year)
Some random dude on Twitter came up with a better design than the professionals at the club/Adidas. Again. We'll call this a modern take on an old classic 👀 https://t.co/suT9vMgci0 pic.twitter.com/TtRLwXqkQ9— Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) May 20, 2020 I'd buy that Day 1.
Not sure how reliable the seller is, but this EBAY Seller has the Union 2018 Home Authentic Long Sleeve Jersey for sale for $70 in Medium, Large, and XXL. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224160755172?var=522941042994&ul_noapp=true
Taking a look at previous Supporters Shield Champions (LAFC, FC Dallas, etc.) it doesn't look like any of them had Supporters Shield Champions gear. Looks like MLS just releases Eastern/Western Conference Champions Gear, US Open Cup Champions Gear, and MLS Cup Champions Gear. Hopefully, the Union can keep up the momentum.
Adidas has the 2020 Home Jersey currently on sale for 50% (for both Replica and Authentic Jersey). Replica is available in Small, Medium, XL, and XXL, and Authentic is available in all sizes. 2020 Replica Home Jersey ($45): https://www.ebay.com/itm/154247662365?var=454349317031&ul_noapp=true 2020 Authentic Home Jersey ($65): https://www.ebay.com/itm/154247662430?var=454349317472&ul_noapp=true
Surprising eBay sale. The 2018 US Open Cup Training Jersey sold for $275! https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-2018-...83.l10137.c10&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/kit-launch-2021-rsvp? We gonna get some powder blue or are they just trolling us?
They keep being up how it's "electric". So I'm guessing a retina burning yellow hue. With the club's light blue mixed in. As a center stripe if they know what's good for them.
They're trolling. This is the secondary kit right? It's gonna be white with powder blue and yellow accents. Let's not set ourselves up to be disappointed here. It'd be surprising if they brought the center stripe back, seeing as the Union have moved away from that look for nearly half of their existence now. That said, something using this template would be interesting: Here are the Adidas Templates for Teamware for 2020/2021.....not seeing a center stripe... https://www.footyheadlines.com/2020/01/all-adidas-20-21-teamwear-kits.html
Futzed around with the image from the announcement and the kits they have on don't have shoulder stripes and have a v neck. I am putting my money on the "Tiro" template. That said the one sleeve hem looks huge so it will probably just end up being the "Condivo". Either way:
I still think it's ridiculous that MLS gets designs dictated to them by Adidas and not the other way around. Templates shouldn't even be thing here; they should all just be individually designed. But I guess it's either cheaper for Adidas or they make more money with the templates, somehow.
It's not just MLS.....take a look around the football world.....outside of colors, most Kit designs are very similar and are from a template. Nike & Adidas use templates for all of their kit designs.
I think this kit will be a quarters design that is light blue and yellow with a lighting bolt breaking up the design diagonally. Take a look at the cloud colors on social media as well as the two different colored cat's eyes. Their collars also have charms alluding to Benjamin Franklin's discovery of electricity: when people keep asking for kit tease, but you kept hearing kitties 😬 pic.twitter.com/OJAhijoTEV— Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) February 1, 2021 It seems this year Adidas is trying to introduce non-white secondary kits: https://www.footyheadlines.com/2021/01/mls-adidas-try-to-get-rid-of-white-kits.html At the very least, it seems like they are trying something new! I think secondary kits should be forward thinking and fun.
I hope they don't do a sash style bolt or something. I really don't like uniforms with glaring asymmetry.
Introducing…The 𝘽𝙔⚡️𝙐 Kit Just like our club, this kit is not just 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, it's 𝘽𝙔⚡️𝙐 👉https://t.co/9b3gx4nXDK pic.twitter.com/tfCNxQD3Uc— Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) February 3, 2021
1) Benjamin Franklin didn't actually discover electricity. 2) It looks like it came from Aliexpress. Or that market in Bolvia. Most random, unexpected soccer sighting in Bolivia: For sale in La Paz pic.twitter.com/VtmoUKyd8Z— Brian Straus (@BrianStraus) February 21, 2018 3) Still no center stripe. Whoever the hell decided to go away from the center stripe is a clown. 4) The yellow lining on the sleeve makes it look like they are wearing a yellow shirt underneath. 5) We aren't the San Diego Chargers. Why are we dressed like them? That said, it's still better than the time they released a plain blue shirt and acted like it was the greatest accomplishment by mankind since the invention of agricultural irrigation systems.
I was hoping for light blue AND yellow, not light blue with yellow accents. Also, the lightning bolts make it a little too busy. Still, probably one of their best secondary shirts yet. Miles better than the plain white shirts of the last several seasons. Hopefully they pair it with yellow and white socks and/or shorts and don't go with all light blue monochrome.
I absolutely love it and will buy it immediately. It's a top three jersey in this team's history for me.
