Also, thought you guys would like this passage from my book since we are talking about chigüiros:



After walking for a few more hours, Teodoro took a moment to sit down. He leaned against a tree and removed his boots. The grass under him was cool and verified moisture.

Stretching, he yawned as he felt a relaxing breeze. He closed his eyes, appreciating the moment until he heard a sound.

Opening his eyes, a stout brown rodent walked past him, before acknowledging him with a sniff. Its black eyes gave a faint glow, and its thick fur indicated that it was well-nourished. The capybara lost interest as it began to look at the ground. Teodoro couldn’t believe his luck: lunch.

“Hello, my little chigüiro,” said Teodoro with a devious smile. He thought about how to roast the two-foot creature. He lifted the large rodent. It squirmed and produced sounds that were universal in the animal kingdom: fear.

However, before things escalated, he realized something. Placing it on his lap, his hands ran along its fur as if he was caressing a dog. Its body felt cool and wet.

Water! he realized as he continued to calm the capybara with quiet reassurance. From what he recalled, these furry creatures tended to live near a respectable body of water. While he could not tell from where, it could lead him in the proper direction.

Once he felt it trusted him again, there was a pause as it glanced back at him before moving again. Whether it was deciding to go back near water or just get away from him, he did not know.

 

God I like it more than I thought...

I am rocking this the next time I eat at a Colombian restaurant.
