Well, the Rapids website still says that the next official gathering is September 28th, but if you scavenge hard enough there is some current news on the site. Under "Upcoming Appearances" I just saw that the new uniform is going to be unveiled next week:

Wed. Feb. 12 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Black and Blue Ball / New Uniform Unveiling - @ Blue 67, 15th and Lawrence All Players, Coaches, Staff and Rapidman

So, love it or hate it, the wait is almost over.

Did I hear correctly that season ticket holders were going to get free replica jerseys?

Black and Blue Ball? That sounds like the name of an 80's metal concert. Maybe they should get a washed up hair band to play.

So, the era of Inter Colorado will officially start. I hate the color change but like the jersey.

I think it's one for every extra season ticket you order, but I'm going on memory from the last mailing I got.

They are going to unveil their new attitude too.

Spitting at and giving the finger to the fans wil be the norm. Politeness and warm handshakes for the referee. Fuzzy puppies for the opposition to entertain the benchwarmers during the game.

Did everyone else get the e-mail regarding winning the two tickets to the Black and Blue ball? Get to hang out with the social elites and everything?

Gotta love those social elites showing up at the matches, buying the jerseys, and supporting the team at the post match parties.

What does it take to become a social elite anyway?

I think it starts with living in Douglas County or a loft in LoDo...

Guess when I moved to Douglas County I didn't get the memo?

I probably did. But I started deleting those without reading too much because I get the news here about 30 times faster.

As for social elites, I thought we might be short on high living rich guys after the telecom and dot com crashes. Maybe they rounded up a few well healed doctors.

It's easy to pooh-pooh the social elites and the VIP-only aspect of the unveiling, but if it has a higher profile, if it draws more media, then maybe that's the best thing for the Rapids in the end. After all, we have the entire season to look at the uniform. And from the sounds of it, most of y'all don't even like the new kit anyway.

And if it's VIP blah-blah-blah, maybe they'll talk some folks into buying corporate seats up in the boxes, maybe they'll get some additional sponsors so they can do more events like those $1 tacos (or were they burritos?).

They were tacos. Man oh man was a four taco dinner and some liquid for $4 a great idea.

Ohh, but next time it won't be tacos and beer. It'll be escargo and chardonnay at $40 a pop, which is a good deal!!!!

We don't have him yet. Pardon my concern over the fact that his USA arrival has already been delayed twice.

Hopefully it's something minor, like work permit or MLS paperwork. Maybe his car hit a water buffalo.

He's probably being held up because he told the customs guy he doesn't like the Lakers... either that or they have pictures of him hanging out with Chief Karlan and Bone Cancer... I also heard Grimandi is listed as 6'5''... 6'9'' with the Afro??

Rumor is that Grimandi is still experiencing some knee problems and has stayed in Europe awhile longer to consult with his physician Dr. Rosenrosen.

His agent, Mr. Babar (thats Babar with just one B) said that Grimandi should be fine and has been recuperating steadily on a daily diet of a Blood Mary, a steak sandwich and a steak sandwich.

You can find all of this information in the Records Room next to the Beatles White Album. It's just below the cup of hot fat and the head of Alfredo Garcia.

Actually, what I heard is that Dr. Jellyfinger was concerened with not only his knee, but commented
"You ever see a spleen that large???"

That's actually two B's but not together.

I just hope that when he finally gets here that he doesn't get a visit from Don Corleone, Matress Police.

I'd also hate for him to have to sit next to Mr. Sinalindin on the plane over to the states. I'm pretty sure he'll need space.
