Playing without their starting keeper and with some of their starters resting for a lot of the game, UNCG defeated Winthrop 2-1 on Senior night in Greensboro, NC.

The Spartans carried a 2-0 lead to the last four seconds when Winthrop punched one in on the Spartan subs.

Freshman keeper Ryan Nowak got his third win of the season and sophomore Scott Jones and freshman Matt Smith both notched goals for UNCG.

Hey, I was at the game tonight and it was an exciting game. I don't know how Winthrop doesn't have a better record, because they were a good team. Also the G had All their players in until the end. I know Winthrop sat two players in the second half and sat two of their best defenders for the entire game due to cards.

According to the Box Score, Four starters (McCurry, Atlason, McCurry and Lochrie) came out with 15 minutes to go in the first half.

Patterson and Lochrie came out at the 75 minute mark. McCurry and Atlason came out at the 65 minute mark.

Looks like Patterson stayed in the longest before he was spelled by Matt Smith. Three of the guys rested for about 30 minutes apiece, Patterson called it a night with about 16 minutes remaining.

Sorry to hear about the card situation. Maybe Winthrop will be full strength for the BSC tournament.
