Check out the RPB site and see them distinguish between themselves and anyone who might take the TFC buses down to Columbus. They are the hardcore fans, and the TFC bus people are "casual" fans. The guy Flush even asks if it's possible to have RPB's infiltrate the "casual" fans buses to "teach us the chants". Un-b-lievable.

What is with these people? Anyone who travels 16 hours round trip on a bus to see their team play a game is a good fan. Can't we get over this "supporter" vs. casual fans kind of garbage? BMO field has 16 000 season ticket holders. The "supporters" truly feel they are more important, and righteous.

It's quite sad to see this sort of thing happen. At the same time these people are good for the team, they are also bad for it. They really discourage people who don't consider themselves soccer only supporters from supporting the team. This is why soccer has a hard time getting mainstream exceptence.....because the people in the mainstream are constantly ridiculed by the soccer supporters. Very sad.

Why do we feed his ego. Why not just ignore him until he gets tired of screaming and ranting at no one.

I do realize that this post will make him feel big for 2 seconds but it had to be said.

I don't see nothing wrong with getting TFC bus fans on board with what chants we will be doing. And I doubt the RPB are in contempt of "casual" fans. Hell I hear they and Usector are letting the NEE call the chants since they will be seated in the middle to avoid confusion with chanting.

It does seem as though there are a growing group of supporters who are becoming more and more elitist. Some people don't want to go to the game and yell and jump and sing, but want to see a good live match, and I don't see a problem with that. It should be encouraged to yell and jump and sing, but to try to make it mandatory is kinda silly.

For me I wish all of BMO went as nuts as the south side and I'm all for encouraging. I sit in 113 but upon a visit to 127 where only the first two rows were up and chanting I tried to encourage the sitters to get up and sing, they weren't having it with me LOL, however a couple of weeks later those two rows of supporters grew and grew and got organized and formed the NEE in a section that was supposed to be for families. So it's possible to get people motivated to change their approach to the game but at the same time you can't force anyone and you should just focus on how you support the team. Live and let live.

Got a link or a quote? I can't find the thread in question, but would like to see for myself and before I make a judgement call. I don't personally recall it being discussed, but I haven't been on the RPB boards all day.

It's like now, if you don't hang out at Shoeless Joes or wherever the U Sector people hang out or the North End Elite (that's the biggest joke around. At the beginning of the season most of those people were just sitting there...now they're "hardcore" fans) or attend the pre game tailgate you're a "casual" supporter.

It's arrogance to call people casual supporters who have bought season's tickets. It's another example of the idea that if you aren't willing to behave like they think you should, you're somehow a lesser fan. It's unreal.

Like I've said before...there aren't enough good chants to warrant having people try and control what songs are going to be sung and when. It's also arrogant to assume that people travelling 8 hours to see the game aren't going to know the chants, and are going to need help to support the team.

Thanks Roc, please tell us what an acceptable number of chants are. 12, 15, 105? Don't you just want to sit and watch the team; why do you care how many chants we have? (and don't think we don't have more new ones for this season)

We're not going to allow the Big Soccer Toronto FC Forum to be used as a platform for attacking any group be it a Toronto FC supporter's group, or anybody else.

You have made some valid points in the past and you are welcome to make them in the future but "attacking" as such isn't going to be tolerated.

The thread "title" goes to far!
