UMD continues their Spring schedule tomorrow (4-5-03) when they play both Old Dominion University and George Washington University at home. Both GWU and ODU made the NCAA Tourny last year so the games should be competitive. The GWU game starts at 11:30am and the ODU is set for 2pm. I understand that there is a conflict with a track meet at Ludwig Field so the scrimages will take place on the practice field behind Byrd Stadium.
I assume UMD will split their 24 man squad in two separate teams for these matches as they did against the Richmond Kickers first team and reserves. Again I assume UMD will use their reserves in the first match and starters in the second because ODU is probably slightly stronger than GWU. It should be a good day of soccer and we certainly hope the weather cooperates.

    two for two

UMD used all their players freely in both games with ODU & GWU and came away with two shutout wins. In the first match with GWU the Terps got goals from Jason Garey (2), Siba Mohammed and Abe Thompson. UMD outshot GW 18-5 and won 4-0.
The second match was a bit more competitive but still most of the positive play belonged to UMD in a 1-0 decision. Jason Garey got the winner at 51 minutes in. Again UMD used their full roster freely in achieving a 15-9 shooting advantage and controlled play for the most part.
Injuries are always a concern even on a team as deep as Maryland and yesterday Ian Rodway sat out both games with sore knees, AJ Godbolt is still recovering from an ACL, Nino Marcantonio is on crutches with a broken foot and Dom Mediate sat out the second game with a bruised calf. Everyone should be ready to go when it matters in the Fall with Rodway and Mediate scheduled to play against UVA and NC St on April 19.
    Go TERP!
