Interesting to watch the games played at this tourney. Fri's. games played on a wet and well manicured grass pitch, seating three yards from the side touch line. Fantastic to watch from a spectator's point of view. Loved it, but the pitch was history after two games. Sunday's games were moved to the stadium- art.turf, still wet from the day's drizzle and seating was a good twenty yards away, but game play speed was noticably faster on the turf, kinda like a huge indoor game. Good teams, great games, all and all. It got me thinking about the schools that play- practice on art. turf, the speed, transition in play, on and off the ball. I watched Loyola play in a few games last year and had thoughts that they could have beat a few of the bottom tier MLS teams, watching the way they moved in some of their better moments. To bad the turf is prone to player injury, but I will take the seat on the touch line with real grass any day of the week. No one can ever forget the sound and feel of the game.
