Uly looked like the best winger in u20 wc. He’s continuing his progression. Very good to see. For all the Konrad love over the last two years, uly is a much better player.
Yes, the possibility, slim as it may be, of an American playing for Barcelona's 1st team, can be intoxicating to some. And when you're intoxicated you make bad choices. If Llanez was in Barcelona's system for a while to rise up the ranks when he's conquered a level I'm pretty sure he'd be higher than their 4th team right now. That's a low-level of play and KDLF has, as of now, stagnated in it unfortunately.
alright, this is so wrong it's ridiculous. KDLF, at 17, last season moved from Juvenil B (U19) to Juvenil A (U19)...he'd been solid but not a top prospect at Juvenil B, then impressed throughout the season for Juvenil A, getting called up a few times for Barca B (2nd team) and making one appearance. So he's at 3rd team, not 4th, did very well last year, is not stagnating except by some ridiculous standard that expects every American player to debut with the first team at 18. A second season with Juvenil A and some appearances with Barca B would be more than respectable and on schedule for a player in their program. I make no judgments on UL vs. KDLF, but why do we feel the need to tear down 1 player in order to build up another? Both age eligible for the next U20 cycle I believe (UL about 3 months older).
You're projecting for the most part. I guess Barcelona C hasn't existed for quite a while (I thought he skipped a level temporarily out of circumstance), so it's my bad on that. But everything else was a virtual truism. He got sent back from Barcelona B to Juvenil A and proceeded to play worse than his first stint. That's stagnation. It's still a low level when he's had a chance to progress. And we saw a comparison of the two players at the u-20 WC and Llanez out-shone him. KDLF was sub-standard for a US starter while being close in age. He had very few ideas in the final 3rd and ability to win with quickness at this point in his career. That was very disappointing, and still would have been if Llanez didn't exist.
Another one Uly Llanez scores in the 12th minute for the Wolfsburg U19s as they go up 1-0 over the Magdeburg U19s. That's 5 goals in less than 200 minutes in the U19 Bundesliga for the American.— scuffed (@scuffedpod) August 21, 2019
I feel like it's easier for a guy with his skillset to get some minutes with the first team. He seems perfect for a super sub role when they need a goal. He doesn't have to be too tactically or defensively aware; he just can go out and run at tired defenders to try to make something happen. It's a bit different if you're a defender, GK, or CM.
Looks like Uly Llanez had to come off in the 14’ of Wolfsburg U19’s game today... possible injury? pic.twitter.com/CVUyn4HMbR— Bundimericans (@bundimericans) August 25, 2019
Seeing early reports say it’s an ankle injury. Timetable for return has not been established yet. Will probably be established in the next day or two.— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) August 25, 2019
Match report says something about an "injured ankle". Let's hope he's back against Bayern Munich. https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/newsdetails/news-detail/detail/news/klare-angelegenheit/

Hmm...I thought @bshredder said that Llanez would have come to the upcoming US u-20 camp if he were healthy.
