I saw the banner at the stadium on Saturday, but with the section they normally sit in tarped off and I didn't actually see any Ultras.
What's the story? Do you guys have a new sectino or was there just a terrible turnout (like the rest of the stadium)?

Ask Lalas and Kerry (the lady in charge of the security and stadium stuff). There were 47 of us outside the stadium, and as a protest for the way they treat us we didn't get in. (see the CONCACAF game when we got in, but we weren't allowed to stand in our section or hang our banners even though the stadium was empty, and when we left after 30 minutes). IBT was the only one to get in, just to hang the banner backwards, but he wasn't allowed to do so, because it was "unpolite" (?!?!) When the new GM treats one of the 2 existent supporter groups like that, there is no way he will manage an increase in attendence. There are so many things to say about it, but we will write them on our page, to avoid any other conflicts on BS.

What was the reason for keeping you out? Obviously, the franchise isn't in position to turn fans away ....

The San Jose FO believes they have enough fans, that they can turn away any that they don't care for. They would rather have empty seats then passionate rowdy fans in the Ends.

This is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They are keeping you guys out? What reason did they give? Look at the recording of the KC game. The Ultras were a main feature every time the KC TV would pan the crowd (along with Quake Crazy and his brother). If you can get that banner into the stadium at the next game, I'm standing with you.

I was behind the Ultras at the LDA match and was amazed at how stupid and stubborn the yellowjackets were being...they were acting like the Ultras were there with teargas and flamethrowers....wait, maybe that is the answer?

    Galexi is so very confused.....

That's how they were treated last season too. I stood with them one game and completely changed my opinion of them because of all the crap they had to deal with.

I, too, noticed with some sorrow their absence in the South Endzone. I may not be the type to participate in some of the more controversial Ultras chants, but the treatment this supporters group seems to be receiving is a disgrace.

Sadly, this isn't too surprising, though. It wasn't that long ago that the Casbah had to fight the same battle every season to get team management and stadium security on the same page regarding permission to stand, bring drums, etc.

Not the way to treat your best customers. The Casbah and Ultras make the stadium experience better for every paying Earthquakes customer, and management should encourage rather than discourage them. I hope Alexi's reading this thread...

That is crap! I too noticed the Ultras were missing, bummer that Galexi is alienating a support group. We need all the fans we can get get. I am not an Ultra type fan, but I love to watch those guys during the game. Last year was awesome! I support them and their right to get a little rowdy! It is getting harder and harder not to want to boo Alexi Lalas when they announce his name at the games! Bring back Johnny! In fact, I think that will be my sign at the next game.

    Go Quakes!

I wasn't around when the Casbah was going through this. I mean I was at the games but I didn't know what was going on cuz I wasn't part of the Casbah.

Anyways, what I'm getting at is that the Ultras are treated like criminals. That's what it boils down to. And it's disgusting the way they're treated. The people who work the stadium (CSC) are very, very, very rude to them. The one time I ever stood with them was the one time I was ever treated that way at the stadium. Security is always nice to me. I've even made friends with some of them just by going to the games. But when I stood with the Ultras, I was looked at like I was scum, a criminal.... I've just never seen so much disgust, contempt, dislike, etc in someones eyes when they've looked at me or talked to me. Really it's sad.

The Ultras were not for me. But that doesn't mean I don't think they belong there. They're just a bit too crazy for me (but I think it's cool they're so crazy). However, regardless of what the team or security or whoever thinks of the Ultras, they can not afford to treat them the way they do. The Ultras are paying fans. They've got a TON of passion. The stadium wasn't the same without them.

I kept asking where the Ultras were. The stadium needs help in the south end zone. We in the Casbah have the north covered. Whats up Lalas?

Initially, Our group decided to not post any other message on this board, to prevent any possible arguments, conflicts. But since a lot of people are wonderring what happened to us, i feel the need to give some explanations.
As you all know, the birth of our group was received with understandable concern, and anymosity by most of the other Quakes fans. Throughout the season we proved everybody that we are there just to improve the stadium atmosphere and to support the team. People who were criticizing us at the beginning, congratulated us by the end of the season, and that was a real satisfaction for the group. As most of you remember at the last 2 games of the past season (LA, KC) we had 100+ plus people. That means 100 tickets sold, and a loud voice in the South End. Also there were good signs that our number is continuously growing , and at the same time, we can help increase the attendance.
When J Moore left , we were pretty reserved. He helped us during the past season, giving us an own section, and dealing with the security almost every time when they were giving us ********. But somehow we were very optimistic about Lalas, despite the fact he was an ex-Galaxy player. We thought that playing in Italy and being a young open minded person, will make him our number one supporter.
2 weeks after he was named GM, we scheduled an appointment with him, and he made all kinds of promisses. We basically didn't ask him for any favors, but just to continue the J Moore- Ultras colaboration. Some of us even made the trip to Santa Barbara for a meaningless friendly, proving our attachement for the team.
We spent $350 for materials needed for a little choreography , planed to happen at the home opener against the Fire. But, the first official home game of the season (LDA) was a shock. We found out that we don't have a section anymore (even though most of the stadium was empty). The security guy, (his name is Orlando and he was in charge of our group almost every game last season), told us with a big smile on his face that "you guys are ********ed, J Moore ain't here for you nomore. Now get the ******** out of here, you are wasting my time". He sent us to the North End. Once we got there we hung our banner upside down , in protest. Immediately we had 4, 5 yellow jackets asking us to take the banner down or leave, because an upside banner is "unpolite". (?!?!). We stand for 20 mintues quietely, than chant "Earthquakes" and "Respect your fans", and than leave right away.

After the game April(Lalas' assistant) appologized for all the ******** we got. Unfortunatelly she doesnt have any power of decision in the franchise.

The person who is basically deciding everything about our group is Kerry, the same lady that called us "a racist group" (even though our group is a big mixture of races and cultures), and who refused any kind of dialog with us since the group was formed.

Before the Fire game, we have been told that we can only stand in section N4 ( next to the Casbah) , otherwise we cant stand anywhere else in the stadium. Of course we refused. First of all, South End is our home, nobody wants to get kicked out from their own home, for no reason. Second, we have different chants than the Casbah, different drum rhytms, and be next to each other would just create a big confusion. Third, the team needs support from both ends. Fourth, since we pay our ticket we should be able to go wherever our seats are.
So, after we got this "ultimatum " we decided to show up at the game at least to get things straight for the following games. Of course more than half of our group decided that driving to the stadium just to argue with the FO and the security and leave after few minutes like at the LDA game is a waste of time, and they stayed home. Our plans were ruined, our choreography was just a waste of money and time, and new potential Ultras members and at the same time, ticket buyers were turned away.
30 mintues before the kick off we saw Lalas walking around the stadium and asked him why we are not allowed in the South End or at least 134. He said that the stadium is going to be packed, and people won't be able to see if we stand, and 134 is going to be filled with traveling Fire fans. What actually happened at the game , everybody saw.
In conclusion, we won't disolve the group or quit supporting the team, but we will protest until we get the treatment that we deserve. We don't pay tickets, lose our voices every game, spend money traveling for the team, and make flags and banners to improve the atmosphere at Spartan, just do be cursed on by the security people, humiliated and kick around the stadium like a soccer ball.

Sorry for the length of the message, but i felt like a clarification over what's happening it was needed.

Great Post! I was one of the skeptical critics of you guys at the beginning of last year, but was won over after watching your group's enthusiasm. I support your rights and will also support your efforts in re-establishing your "home" in the South End. I think most of the posters on this forum are frustrated with the beginning of this season and the current perception of the management. We are all first and foremost Earthquakes fans and as such we need to collectively start voicing our opinions/concerns before it is too late. Let us know what we can do to help out.

    Go Quakes!

Unfortunately, UltrasSanJose isn't telling the whole story......

After the LA/SJ pre-season game back in March in Santa Barbara, some of us ran into them while stopping at the beach for a pre-game picnic. Not only were part of the Riot Squad heckled and threatened there, after being nice and asking the Ultras, "hey, how was your drive down? It should be a good game." But then UltrasSanJose sent the following email:

"Instead of being greatful because we let you slip one more time (you know that before the game, at that park you could've gotten hurt), you keep running your big mouth. Your luck was that you were with your mom, friend, tranny-friend or whatever that was. Where did we go 15 minutes before the end of the game?!?!? Where were you all 15 minutes before theend of the game? I thought we established at the half time to meet 15 mins before the end outside the stadium. Oh yeah, you fagots were too drunk, and forgot about it right? Or, maybe you queers are anti-violence? If even when it was 6 of us you didn't bring it, then you will never have a better chance. And i'm telling you that you won't get lucky for the 3rd time again. Next time we see each other, you got it. It's not a threat or anything, just reality."

This is not the first time these guys have done this kind of thing, (trying to organize a fight post game, etc... what is this, elementary school?) and frankly, it's getting kind of old. Security, and the FOs in both SJ & LA know about this - and the other subsequent threatening emails - which were posted on the LARS boards, and here - but because of the violent threats that were made by UltrasSanJose afterwards, the posts were censored and removed from this board....

So - THIS is one of the main reasons WHY the Ultras are having trouble with security. They asked for it. Maybe if they stopped acting like Columbine Terrorists, they might be treated with more respect.

I for one used to love coming to San Jose for the games - the Quakes are cool supporters who do AMAZING tailgates, and are very friendly, even to us LA fans, and I had fun driving up 101, stopping along the way, making a great weekend out of it. Well, no more. And I'm not alone. These guys have driven away out of town support which is too bad, since it was extra ticket sales that apparently SJ needs.

You have to give respect in order to get it. It's not automatic - you have to earn it.

For the most part, SJ fans are cool - other than the ones who keep trying to start a fight. I go to watch the game of SOCCER, but maybe I'm expecting too much.

If this is going to turn into a pissfight, I suggest this thread be closed or posters be warned.

We have our opinions on the Riot Squad and how some of them behaved in Santa Barbara too. Psyche go ahead and blame trying to start a fight on us, but remember it was a few LARS members that were escored out of the stadium by police, not Ultras', and in every supporters group in the world, from the bigboys of the EPL to A-league clubs, you will have those few select members who come to the games to cause trouble and try to start fights. Remember there is a rivalry between the groups, but i'm not ok with it getting physical in any manner.

Expect this kind of stuff to happen every time the groups meet. If you were really "there" and witnessed everything first hand, and you are aquainted with LA Riot Squad members, you should know it was a guy who goes by "Shooter" who was almost booked in Santa Barabara for telling one of our guys that hes going to drive home with his blood on his hands after the game. ******** happens and its going to go back and forth. Deal with it. Its easy to tell one side of the story.

Enough talk of this. We'll see how the weeks prior to the DC game go and all we can do is hope for the best and the FO will maybe start pulling its weight.

Psysche if your coming onto this board and thread to try to put us down and turn our own fans against us, best of luck too you, but untill you've been there and actually seen the crap we get, I think almost everybody here at the SJ 'Quakes board of BS would like for you to politely keep your flaming posts to yourself.

    IBleedTeal -

Yes I was there. I was one who got heckled and threatened at the beach. And later my boyfriend was over email. There are two sides to every story. What happened to Shooter was in response to being provoked by the Ultras. I'm not saying he was right for taking the bait - I'm just saying it started much earlier at the beach - without Shooter, and we were being NICE. That obviously didn't work. Instead of getting into anything with them, we just left.

Rivalries are fine - but getting threatened with violence is not acceptable under any circumstances. For most people it's easy to see the difference.

The Ultras are being disingenuous at best when they pretend they don't know why they are having trouble.

I am not trying to "turn anyone against" anyone. I am only suggesting that you behave in a civilized manner, and curb those who do not. You'll get a better response from others if you treat them nicer. Or at least not try to provoke a fight, or organize "after-game playground brawls".

We NEVER have trouble with the Quakes. They ROCK!

There is always going to be heckling in any sport. Hell, i'm a niner fan and I have gone to two raider vs. niner games IN OAKLAND. Now, if you are going to cry about a little heckling, go to one of those games wearing all red like me. The Ultras are just ver passionate. I admit that I HATED what they were doing at the begining, but in the end, they brought something that the stadium and fans needed, spirit and passion. I myself love to read the game and yell every once and a while so I admit that I don't always participate but when I do the Ultras are there. There will always be passion in Futbol, people will always heckle each other, especially rivals. There is no reason the Ultras should be lied to like this. Do anyone think that Alexi is acting like this because of the way that he was heckled last year? Come on, a packed stadium for the opener, that is an opened faced lie. Don't quit ultras, you guys have a fan in me man.

The thread was fine as long as it was about the Ultras current issues with the new team and stadium management. When some other folks started to turn it into a pissing match about the Ultras in general and their behavior outside of Spartan Stadium, it went downhill. Therefore, closing this thread.
